Mahindra Xylo is one of the best selling MPV series of India's most trusted passenger car maker Mahindra and Mahindra. This model is available in a number of variants, among them Mahindra Xylo D2 Maxx BSIV is the base level trim. It is the first variant in this model line up to be available with a nine seat option. The company has fitted this trim with a powerful diesel engine, which is capable of delivering a good fuel economy and impressive performance. This trim is equipped with a 2.5-litre diesel engine, which comes with a displacement capacity of 2489cc. It can churn out a maximum power of 95bhp in combination of 220Nm of peak torque output. This engine is coupled with a five speed manual transmission gear box. The company has given this variant quite a few utility based features that helps the passengers in giving a comfortable driving experience. The braking and suspension mechanism are quite efficient and keeps it well balanced. Its front axle is assembled with an independent coil spring, while the rear gets a multi link coil spring type of mechanism. Meanwhile, the front and rear wheels are further fitted with a set of disc and drum brakes respectively. At present, the company is selling this MPV in seven exterior paint options for the buyers to choose from. The list includes Pearl White, Mist Silver, Java Brown, Fiery Black, Toreador Red, Dolphin Grey and Diamond White finish option.

Exteriors:

The exterior appearance is quite good with excellent body design and striking features. To begin with the front facade, it is designed with an aggressive radiator grille, which has black colored slats. This grille is surrounded by a well designed headlight cluster that is incorporated with bright halogen lamps and turn indicator. Then body colored bumper is fitted with a wide air dam that helps in cooling the powerful engine quickly. The large windscreen is integrated with a pair of intermittent wiper s. Its side profile is neatly designed with black colored door handles and outside rear view mirrors that can be adjusted electrically. The flared up wheel arches are fitted with a sturdy set of 15 inch steel wheels, which has been covered with 205/65 R15 sized tubeless radial tyres and offer a superior grip on any road conditions. On the other hand, the rear end is designed with a windshield, a luminous tail lamp cluster, boot lid, bumper and few other aspects. All these features, gives this multi purpose vehicle a captivating appearance. Its overall dimensions are quite standard and it comes with a minimum ground clearance of 176mm. The large wheelbase of the vehicle is 2760mm, which ensure a spacious cabin inside. The overall length of the vehicle is 4525mm along with a decent height of 1880mm and a total width of 1770mm, which includes external rear view mirrors.

Interiors:

The spacious internal cabin of this Mahindra Xylo D2 Maxx BSIV variant is incorporated with a number of practical aspects for the convenience of the occupants. It is incorporated with well cushioned seats that are covered with PVC upholstery. It provides ample leg space and shoulder room for all the nine passengers owing to its large wheelbase of 2760mm. It has a 12V power socket on center console for charging mobile and other electronic devices. The dual tone dashboard is equipped with a few features like AC vents, a large glove box and an instrument panel. Engine and Performance:

Under the bonnet, this variant is powered by a 2.5-litre mDI diesel engine, which comes with a displacement capacity of 2489cc . It is integrated with four cylinders and 16-valves using DOHC valve configuration. This power plant has the ability to churn out a maximum power output of 95bhp at 3600rpm along with a peak torque of 220Nm between 1400 to 2600rpm. The company has skillfully coupled this engine with a five speed manual transmission gear box, which allows the MPV to deliver good acceleration and pick up. It takes 16.4 seconds to cross the speed barrier of 100 Kmph from zero, while, it can achieve a top speed of 144 Kmpl. This diesel mill is incorporated with a common rail based direct injection fuel supply system, which helps in generating 11.4 Kmpl in the city conditions and on the highways, it gives close to 14.95 Kmpl, which is rather good for this segment.

Braking and Handling:

The front axle is assembled with an independent suspension system with coil spring, while the rear axle is fitted with a multi link coil spring type of a mechanism. On the other hand, the company has given it a robust braking mechanism. The front wheels are incorporated with a set of disc brakes and the rear ones get drum brakes as well. This variant is blessed with an electronic power steering system, which is tilt adjustable and makes handling convenient. It supports a minimum turning radius of 5.5 meters, which is quite good for this class.

Comfort Features:

Being the base variant, it is bestowed with a few standard aspects, which gives the occupants a comfortable driving experience. The list of features include HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioner) unit, floor console, illumination ring, remote fuel lid opener and many other such features. It has a responsive power steering system, which is tilt adjustable and makes handling convenient even in heavy traffic conditions.
