Xylo H8 ABS with Airbags Review
Mahindra Xylo is a spacious multi purpose vehicle, which is available in quite a few variants. The company has silently launched its facelifted version with some cosmetic as well as mechanical changes. It is being sold in several trim levels, out of which, Mahindra Xylo H8 ABS With Airbags is the mid range trim. This particular trim houses a new 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine, which comes with a displacement capacity of 2179cc. It can churn out a peak power and torque output of 118.3bhp and 218Nm respectively. With the help of new 'comfort drive technology' it gives superior stability and reduces body roll even at high speed. In terms of exteriors, it gets a lot of chrome treatment, a stylish body decals and updated radiator grille. At the same time, its internal cabin is bestowed with a newly designed instrument cluster, advanced audio unit with music streaming, digital information system and cruise control function. At present, this multi utility vehicle is available in several exterior paint options, which includes Diamond White, Dolphin Grey, Mist Silver, Fiery Black, Java Brown and Toreador Red finish for the buyers to choose from. The company is offering this vehicle with a standard warranty of three years or 100000 Kilometers, whichever comes first and customers can also avail extended warranty by paying some extra cost to authorized dealer.
Exteriors:
This newly launched MUV has impressive exteriors with a lot of chrome highlights and updated features. To begin with the frontage, it has a bold radiator grille, which is fitted with a few vertical slats. It is surrounded by a large headlight cluster that has high intensity halogen lamps and side turn indicators. The slanting bonnet has a couple of visible character lines and it is embossed with a chrome strip and company's badge. The body colored bumper is fitted with a wide air intake section for cooling the diesel engine. This air dam is flanked by a pair of bright fog lamps. Its side profile gets neatly carved wheel arches that have been fitted with a set of 15-inch alloy wheels. These rims are further equipped with 215/75 R15 sized tubeless tyres. It has body colored door handles and outside rear view mirrors, which are electrically adjustable and integrated with side turn blinker. Apart from these, it also has foot steps, mud flaps, B-pillar blackout, stylish body graphics and side body cladding (black) that enhances the look its side profile. Its rear end has a large windscreen that comes with a wash and wipe function and defogger. It is also integrated with a high mounted third brake light. The expressive boot lid is embossed with a chrome strip and variant badging.
Interiors:
This Mahindra Xylo H8 ABS With Airbags trim has a spacious internal cabin, which comes in dual tone color scheme (black and beige). The seats are very comfortable, which provides ample leg room and shoulder space for all passengers. These are covered with new premium fabric upholstery and are integrated with adjustable head restraints. The driver and front co-passenger seats come with 3-position lumbar support. It also has foldable armrest in the middle row with storage space. Its dual tone dashboard is equipped with a large glove box, a three spoke steering wheel and an illuminated instrument panel with a few functions. It also has a couple of 12V power sockets in front and middle row for charging mobiles and other electronic devices. This variant is incorporated with a number of utility based aspects including roof console for spectacles, sun visors with passenger side illuminated vanity mirror, four courtesy lamps, rear glass embedded antenna, driver seat storage tray, front seat back pockets and tilt adjustable steering wheel.
Engine and Performance:
This particular variant is powered by a 2.2-litre, mHawk, diesel engine under the hood, which can displace 2179cc. This power plant can generate a maximum power output of 118.3bhp at 4000rpm in combination with a peak torque of 280Nm between 2400 to 2800rpm. It is cleverly mated with a new 5MT320 five speed manual transmission gear box, which sends the engine power to its front wheels. It allows the MUV to achieve a top speed of approximately 150 to 156 Kmph, which is rather good for this segment. While the time taken by this motor for crossing the speed barrier of 100 Kmph from a standstill is around 15-16 seconds. With the help of a common rail based direct injection fuel supply system, it can return about 10 Kmpl in the city limits and 15 Kmpl on the highways.
Braking and Handling:
Its front wheels have been equipped with powerful disc brakes, while the rear wheels get a set of solid drum brakes. Its braking mechanism is further enhanced by anti lock braking system along with electronic brake force distribution. On the other hand, its front axle is assembled with a double wishbone type of mechanism with IFS (independent front suspension). Whereas the the rear axle is fitted with multi link coil spring. The company has given it a responsive power steering system, which makes handling effortless even in peak traffic conditions. This tilt adjustable steering wheel supports a minimum turning radius of 5.5 meters.
Comfort Features:
This mid range variant is loaded with a lot of comfort aspects that gives a pleasurable driving experience. It is blessed with a 2-DIN music system that lets its occupants listen to their favorite music. It includes a CD, MP3 player, USB interface, auxiliary input and has speakers as well. It is bestowed with a HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) unit that cools the cabin. This trim has power windows with driver's side getting express down and anti-pinch function. In addition to these, it includes a tilt adjustable steering wheel, keyless entry, puddle lamp on front and rear doors, individual AC vents and electric fuel lid opener that enhances the comfort levels.
