Bolero 2011-2019 SLE BSIII Review
Mahindra Bolero a classy SUV model, which turned out to be a best-selling SUV for the Indian automaker. This vehicle comes in several variants among which, Mahindra Bolero SLE BSIII is the mid range trim. This vehicle is powered by a 2.5-litre diesel motor that complies with Bharat Stage III emission norms. It produces a maximum power of about 62.1bhp that results in a pounding torque output of 195Nm. This variant comes with standard set of comfort features like HVAC unit, power steering and middle row center armrest. However, the company has given it a first-in-segment fully digital display featuring several driver information functions, which further gives a aristocratic look to the cabin. In terms of safety aspects, this vehicle's body is fitted with high strength bumpers, which absorbs kinetic energy caused in case of a collision. This SUV has contemporary interior design and masculine exterior structure, which makes it a preferable choice for SUV enthusiasts. It's insides are quite spacious with excellent head and shoulder space, which can provide seating for at least seven passengers. This vehicle competes with the likes of Tata Sumo Gold in Indian automobile market. At present, the manufacturer is offering this vehicle in five exterior paint options including Diamond White, Java Brown, Toreador Red and Fiery Black.
Exteriors:
As said above, it is a classy looking SUV, which is equipped with numerous masculine features. To start with its rear, it has a boxy body structure that is equipped with a tailgate accompanied by large windscreen. It is further equipped with a spare wheel, which has a stylish wheel cover with body colored inserts. The rear bumper looks a little outdated, but is strong, which provides additional safety to the rear. The rear profile also has a clear lens taillight cluster, which is powered by a high intensity third brake light along with turn indicators and courtesy lights. Its side profile has a bit of old-fashioned look, but is fitted with masculine features, which gives a powerful look to the sides. Its door handles as well as pillars are in body color, while the external wing mirrors are treated in black. This vehicle has distinctly structured wheel arches, which are paired with a set of 15-inch steel wheels along with covers . These conventional rims are further covered with terrain capable radial tyres of size 215/75 R15. Coming to the front, this vehicle has been fitted with large hawk-eye shaped headlight cluster that gives a swanky look to the front. In the center, it has a metallic radiator grille with honey-comb mesh and is further decorated with company's logo. Its body colored bumper is massive that has a set of fog lamps along with an air dam.
Interiors:
The internal cabin of this Mahindra Bolero SLE BSIII trim is made with dual tone beige color scheme. It is further embellished with wooden inserts, especially on central console and on AC vents, which gives an opulent look to the cabin. The dashboard has been fitted with a set of aspects that include storage boxes, AC unit and grab handle for front passenger. The seats are integrated with head restraints and are covered with vinyl/fabric upholstery. Furthermore, the middle row seats have center armrest covered with vinyl upholstery, which makes it quite comfortable for occupants. This vehicle comes with a decent cabin space as it is built on a large wheelbase of 2680mm and with a width of 1745mm. The classy appeal of interiors are further augmented by digital screen equipped to the dashboard that plays an active role of an instrument cluster. Engine and Performance:
This vehicle is equipped with a 2.5-litre, m2DiCR diesel engine that displaces 2523cc and complies with Bharat Stage III emission norms. It comprises of 4-cylinders and eight valves that receives fuel through a common rail injection system. This power plant can produce a peak power of about 62.1bhp at 3200rpm that helps in developing a commanding torque output of 195Nm in the range of 1400 to 2200rpm. This motor is paired with a five speed manual gearbox that distributes the torque output to the front wheels. This vehicle can deliver a mileage in the range of 12.4 to 15.96 Kmpl depending upon the road conditions.
Braking and Handling:
This vehicle comes with a proficient braking mechanism in the form of front disc brakes and rear drum brakes, which offers precise stopping of vehicle. Its front axle is fitted with a independent strut system in combination with coil springs and anti roll bars. While the rear axle is mated with elliptical leaf springs, which keeps the vehicle stable on any road conditions. As far as the steering is concerned, this SUV is integrated with a power assisted steering that supports a minimum turning radius of 5.3 meters, which makes it quite simpler to handle.
Comfort Features:
This Mahindra Bolero SLE BSIII is the mid level variant, which is equipped with basic set of features. Its cabin is fitted with a manually operated air conditioning system including a heater, which keeps the interiors cool and pleasant. It also comes with a remote fuel lid opening facility , which further adds to the convenience. Furthermore, the company has incorporated power steering system, stylish ergonomic seats, center armrest for second row, grab handle in dashboard and an advanced digital display.
