This particular variant is doing its duty since the time Bolero was first launched in India in 2001. The direct injection technology in the engine is advantageous because of its low manufacturing cost. The 2523 cc of DI Turbo diesel engine is less powerful and manages to churn out just 63 bhp of power at 3200 rpm and a maximum torque of 180 Nm at 1440-1500 rpm. The engine is married to a NGT 520, 5speed all synchromesh gear box with overdrive in 5th gear. Mileage figures are meek at 10-11 kmpl and the emission amount is also more as this variant still complies to BSIII norms whereas BSIV standards are common these days. The Mahindra Bolero DI BSIII is sold in tier-2 cities where BSIII compliant cars are still allowed. The SUV which is very popular in rural areas where rough terrains are prevalent sells nearly 10,000 units per month (all variants). Coming to the technical specifications of Mahindra Bolero DI, it has a rigid leaf spring suspension, 15 inch wheels, disc brakes in front and drum at rear and hydraulic clutch. The length of the variant is 4170 mm; width is 1660 mm height is 1880 mm; ground clearance is 183 mm, wheelbase of 2794 mm and turning circle radius is 5.9 metre .
