Bolero 2011-2019 Plus - AC BSIII Review
Mahindra and Mahindra is one of the renowned utility vehicle maker in the country. It has a lot of splendid models in its stable, out of which Mahindra Bolero Plus AC BSIII is a mid range trim. It is equipped with a 2.5-litre diesel power plant, which can displace 2523cc. It is further coupled with a five speed manual transmission gear box, which transmits the engine power to its front wheels. This engine can generate a maximum power of 63bhp in combination with a peak torque output of 180Nm. With the help of a common rail based direct injection fuel supply system, it can produce 13.96 Kmpl of decent mileage on the highways. At the same time, under standard conditions in the city limits , it can deliver 9.4 Kmpl that is quite decent for this segment. Its fuel tank capacity is about 60 litres, which helps in planning longer journeys. Its braking and suspension mechanism are quite proficient, which keeps it well balanced and stable at all times. This SUV has an efficient braking and suspension mechanism for keeping it stable at all times. The front and rear wheels are fitted with disc and drum brakes respectively. Meanwhile, the front axle is assembled with independent type of system with coil spring, whereas the rear gets parabolic leaf spring as well. a
Exteriors:
The overall dimensions of this SUV are quite standard for accommodating minimum nine passengers with ample leg room and head space. Its overall length measures about 4440mm along with a total height of 1977mm. It comes with a decent width of 1660mm, which also includes external rear view mirror of both sides. The minimum ground clearance is 195mm that helps in dealing with bad road conditions and it has a large wheelbase of 2794mm that ensures a spacious cabin inside. The car maker is currently offering this utility vehicle in quite a few exterior paint options for the customers to choose from. These are Rocky Beige, Java Brown, Fiery Black, Toreador Red and a Diamond White with metallic finish option as well. The frontage is designed with a massive radiator grille, which is fitted with a few body colored slats and a prominent company logo in the center. It is surrounded with hawk eye styled headlight cluster that is powered by bright halogen lamps and turn indicator. Just below, there is a black colored bumper, which is incorporated with a wide air dam for cooling the powerful engine. The side profile has neatly carved wheel arches that have been equipped with a robust set of 16 inch steel wheels with full wheel caps. These rims are further covered with 185/75 R16 sized radial tubeless tyres. The rear end is designed with black colored bumper, a large windscreen and a bright tail light cluster, which gives the SUV a complete appearance.
Interiors:
The company has bestowed the internal cabin of this trim with a lot of practical aspects, which gives the occupants a convenient driving experience. These are cup and bottle holders on center console, front seat back pockets for storing magazines and other smaller things at hand, storage spaces in center console and several other aspects as well. The spacious internal cabin is incorporated with well cushioned seats, which are covered with fabric upholstery. These provide ample leg space for all passengers and they are integrated with adjustable headrest. The dual tone dashboard is equipped with a few features like AC vents, a voluminous glove box , a three spoke steering wheel with company logo in the center and an advanced digital display for the convenience of the driver. Apart from these, it also has body colored inside door handles, easy access parking brake lever and an instrument panel, which houses a low fuel warning light, driver seat belt warning notification, multi-trip meter and so on. It has a couple of 12V power socket for charging mobiles and other electronic devices.
Engine and Performance:
This variant is powered by a 2.5-litre diesel engine, which comes with a displacement capacity of 2523cc . This double overhead camshaft based power plant is integrated with 4-cylinders and 16-valves. It has the ability to churn out a maximum power output of 63bhp at 3200rpm in combination with 180Nm of peak torque in the range of 1440 to 1500rpm. It is mated with a five speed manual transmission gear box, which allows the SUV to attain a maximum speed in the range of 120 to 130 Kmph. At the same time, it can cross the speed barrier of 100 Kmph in close to 25.6 seconds. It is incorporated with a common rail based direct injection fuel supply system, which can generate 13.96 Kmpl of decent mileage.
Braking and Handling:
The front axle is fitted with an independent suspension mechanism, which is further assisted by coil spring and anti roll bar. Whereas, the rear axle is equipped with an elliptical leaf spring type of system. On the other hand, the front wheels are equipped with a set of disc brakes , while the rear wheels are assembled with solid drum brakes. The rack and pinion based power steering system comes with tilt adjustable function, which is quite responsive and makes handling easier even in heavy traffic conditions. This steering wheel supports a minimum turning radius of 5.8 meters, which is rather good for this class.
Comfort Features:
The company has incorporated this Mahindra Bolero Plus AC BSIII trim with a number of safety aspects, which include a power steering with tilt adjustable function, height adjustable driver seat, front power windows, an advanced digital display and quite a few utility based aspects as well. It has an efficient HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) unit with multi-dimensional AC vents, which cools the entire cabin quickly. Then integrated music system is equipped with CD/MP3 player, radio with AM/FM tuner and two speakers that enhances the ambiance of the entire cabin.
Safety Features:
This sports utility vehicle comes with a rigid body structure, which also has side and front impact beams, which provides extra safety to the occupants sitting inside in case of collision. Apart from these, it is equipped with quite a few aspects like seat belts for all passengers, adjustable driver seat, a centrally mounted fuel tank, a high mounted brake light and other aspects as well.

I have Mahindra Bolero and It has been good family off-road vehicle for me, also helping me in a support role for agricultural ops, crossing 3-4 feet deep water of mighty rivers of Punjab like Beas and Ravi. Has never let me down anywhere, my children during their outings treat as a moving room and keep moving to and fro enjoying sitting at all seats.
