Aspire 1.5 TDCi Trend Review
After a reasonable level of anticipation from the public, Ford India has launched the Figo Aspire. This new model comes with a list of variants, a notable one among which is the Ford Aspire 1.5 TDCi Trend . Powering this trim is a 1.5-litre diesel engine that is good at fuel efficiency. Assisting the engine in its function are a sound braking system, along with a good suspension arrangement as well. Safety is also affirmed with the presence of airbags, seatbelts, good headlamps, and other functions. Coming to the exterior design of the vehicle, it is graced with good elements such as chrome highlights, appliqués and attractive wheels. There are a variety of colour options for the benefit of the customer as well. The interior design of the vehicle offers a blend of good looks and comfort features. There is fine upholstery for the relief of the occupants, along with many satisfying functions as well. Beside this, there is a cluster display that comes with a gear shift indicator, a door ajar warning, a low fuel warning, a maintenance warning, a water temperature warning light and a distance to empty reading, keeping the driver well informed of the needs of the drive always. A tachometer further assists this function, providing vital statistics related to the drive. The outside mirrors come with power adjustment facility, and they host turn indicators for optimal safety as well as convenience. There are power windows at the front and rear featuring one touch up and down function for the driver's side window.
Exteriors:
At the front, it carries a grille with chrome surround, along with silver painted bars for a more attractive effect. The headlamps on either side are stylish in design, and they come along with a headlamp levelling function for safety value. There is a chrome highlight on the headlamp bezel adding to its dynamic appeal. The body coloured bumper integrates into the picture well. Coming to the side facet, the steel wheels make for a good look. Beside this, the outer mirrors and door handles are body coloured, providing a more harmonious image. There is a black applique on the B and C pillar, giving a more polished appearance. At the tail section, there are attractive light cluster that are further equipped with brake lights. The rear bumper is also body coloured. The tailgate has a chrome garnished strip, improving the picture by the rear.
Interiors:
The cabin arrangement reflects sophistication, and also enables space and comfort for all occupants. The two tone colour combination of charcoal black and light oak makes for a refined environment. Furthermore, the seats are covered in fabric upholstery, giving a deluxe feel to the passengers. In addition to this, there are fabric insert on the front door panel. A premium proteus black interior applique is present on the inner door handle, the audio bezel and the steering wheel, further promoting the plush aura of the space. The driver gets the benefit of a parking brake lever tip of chrome for an enhanced handling feel. In addition to all of this, the convenience requirements are also well taken care of. A rear centre armrest gives the back row passengers the convenience of strain free arm placement for the duration of the drive. There are map pockets behind the front row seats, allowing for storing spare objects.
Engine and Performance:
Powering the vehicle is a 1.5-litre TDCi engine that has a displacement value of 1498cc. In addition to this, it has a power output of 73bhp at 3750rpm, alongside a torque of 215Nm at 1750rpm to 3000rpm. The engine has a compression ratio of 16:1. It comes with the option of a powershift automatic transmission that comes along with a dual clutch shifting system. Another option for the gearbox is a 5 speed manual transmission, which allows for responsive shifting. This engine makes for a good fuel economy as well, with an impressive mileage value of 25.83kmpl.
Braking and Handling:
As for the braking arrangements, there are ventilated discs that guard the front brakes, and the rear brakes are fitted with drums for effective control when driving. Turning to the suspension system, the front axle is armed with an independent McPherson strut that is also present with a coil spring and an anti roll bar. For the rear axle, there is a semi independent twist beam, and it is further assisted by twin gas and oil filled shock absorbers for an improved handling quality. For the steering, there is an EPAS (electric power assisted steering) system that comes along with a pull drift compensation technology.
Comfort Features:
For the entertainment needs of the cabin, there is a music system that comes along with radio function. This facility is further aided with a USB port and Aux-In function, allowing the system to host external devices for passenger convenience. Bluetooth connectivity is another highlight of the car, and this facility allows for audio streaming through enabled devices, as well as for in-cabin call hosting. The controls to the phone and the audio facilities are steering mounted, improving ease of functioning for the occupants. The musical experience is supported by the presence of two speakers at the front, and two speakers at the rear, allowing apt sound quality. In addition to this, a 2 line MFD screen is also present, adding a sophisticated touch to the interiors. The manual air conditioning system makes for a pleasant environment always. There are interior grab handles that come along with coat hooks, giving occupants a convenient facility to store clothes within the car. An electric boot release function also promotes convenience for the driver, and a battery saver makes for reduced energy consumption. The car also provides a 12V power socket, allowing occupants to charge their devices during the drive. There are 6 speed variable intermittent wipers for the front screen, enabling visibility during tough weathers. A MyFord Dock facility allows for mounting and charging external devices, as well as integrating them into the car's entertainment system. There are storage arenas by the door with specialised compartments, further promoting convenience for the occupants.
Safety Features:
Airbags are present for both front passengers, giving them critical shielding in case of mishaps. Furthermore, there are 3 point seatbelts for the front row passengers. A keyless entry system promotes convenience as well as safety. The car is equipped with powerful headlamps, and added security is provided by guide me home headlamp systems as well. There is a feature that automatically locks the doors when the car's speed crosses 20kmph, enabling safety for the occupants at higher speeds. For the safety of the vehicle as well, there is an engine immobiliser that minimises risks of stealing for the vehicle.
