Skoda, Nissan and Datsun Announce Price Hike Up to 3% From 2016

Nissan, Datsun and Skoda will be increasing the cost of their products in the new year. The price hike will vary from 1 to 3 percent on different models. Nissan and Datsun products will cost between 1 per cent and 3 per cent more whereas Skoda cars will face a 2 to 3 percent hike. Previously, Maruti, Toyota, Hyundai, Mercedes-Benz and BMW had also announced a price hike from the year 2016. Most of the brands say that the price hike comes as a result of ‘rising input costs’. The new prices will take effect from January 1, 2016. This will result in a hike of Rs. 14,000 to Rs. 50,000 depending on the model and the variant. Arun Malhotra, Nissan’s Managing Director said, "The revision of prices will soften the negative impact and help the company stay competitive."

Nissan Terrano is the top-selling car from the Japanese brand in India while Micra bags the top exported car badge. Maruti will be increasing the cost of its products up to Rs. 20,000 whereas Hyundai will impose a price hike of up to Rs. 30,000. Toyota and BMW cars will cost up to 3 percent more whereas Mercedes-Benz cars will be up to 2 percent costlier. With the price hike coupled with Delhi’s Odd-Even policy and the recent ban on diesel vehicle registration, customers in the national capital will have the hardest time owning a car in 2016.
