EA (Electronic Arts) with Ghost Games has just released the first teaser of the 22nd instalment of the Need For Speed Franchise, with this one they are just going simply with - ‘Need For Speed’! The teased images hint a lot of night racing and customization, appears to be the true successor of the NFS Underground! And indeed they are saying 2015 Need For Speed has - ‘deep customization, authentic urban car culture, a nocturnal open world, and an immersive narrative that pulls you through the game’. The teaser features a rain-drenched new Mustang, a tricked out - Toyota GT86, Nissan 180SX, and Porsche 911! The new Need for Speed game will be released this spring and will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
“Need for Speed is one of the most iconic names in gaming, and we're returning it to greatness in this reboot,” said Marcus Nilsson, Executive Producer at Ghost Games. “Pulling on our 20 years of history, and then taking a year out from releasing a game, we are making the game we’ve always wanted to. We're listening to the fans and delivering an experience that will capture their imagination and unleash their passion for cars and speed.”
It been over 20 years since the first NFS racing game rolled out in 1994 and unquestionably Need for Speed has always been an over the edge experience. And apart from the recent ones I have played most of the games out of the 22 instalments. The very first game I played was the Need For Speed II and the best thing I liked about it was the Multiplayer thing it had, and I also had perks of driving my favourite - Ferrari F50 at that point of time. FYI - the F50 is still to me the best looking Ferrari till date.
NFS’ thrilling hot pursuit stuff came with the third installment - Need For Speed III: Hot Pursuit and Lamborghini Diablo was the hot chick in the game. All the police chase races that NFS is famed for started with this series. Moreover, NF 5 was all about Porsches and indeed the name depicts the same - NFS: Porsche Unleashed; the personal favourite was the sexy Porsche Boxster in the game. NFS 5 also had the first of its kind in the series vehicle damage control option!
Though Need For Speed III: Hot Pursuit debuted the police chase, but it was in the sixth installment - NFS: Hot Pursuit II that made the things cringing as hell! After it came the Underground, the ultimate NFS of all times, all the car modifications and customizations, night-life, races it was so captivating as if you’re living your fantasy world in a virtual reality, agree? Also, the graphics part in the Underground was better than the Hot Pursuit 2, which indeed was first NFS that offered reality-like graphics.
The 2003 Underground was so popular that it had to have a sequel and voila, Electronic Arts launched the Underground 2 in 2004! Need For Speed; Most Wanted which came after the Underground and part 2 again took the ladder higher! Till now after Most Wanted, NFS had several games but were not that groundbreaking like the aforementioned. NFS made a serious attempt with their last currently on sale game - Rivals but again it did not taste the desired success.
PS: Full Trailer of 2015 Need For Speed is coming on June 15, 2015, can’t wait!
