Hyundai Verna comes with four different engine options; 1.4-litre petrol and diesel engines do duty on the base variants, while 1.6-litre diesel and petrol engines do duty on other variants.
The 1.4-litre VTVT petrol engine is refined and develops a maximum power output of 106.5bhp, which is quite impressive for a 1396cc engine. The engine performs well in mid-ranges but loose confidence at higher revs.
The 1.4-litre CRDi diesel engine also does duty on the i20, it performs well in low and mid ranges, which proves it a perfect car for urban commuting but its high-end performance is not that impressive. The engine develops a healthy 90bhp.
The 1.6-litre Gamma petrol engine is one of the most refined petrol engines today, it churns out the maximum power output of 122bhp making it the most powerful petrol car in the segment.
On the other hand the 1.6-litre CRDi engine cranks out the maximum power output of 126bhp.
