I was looking for a full-sized sedan for quite a long time and after meeting Volkswagen Passat, the decision to buy the car came without delay. I will share why I bought the new Volkswagen Passat. My friend who is an auto journalist already told me about the new VW Passat which has an impressive styling and high tech gadgetry, but I wanted to see all these with my naked eyes. The vehicle is one of the largest selling sedans in the world and what makes it popular are its lavish interiors and executive mid-sized proportions, perfect for both family and business needs. The sedan is built on the VW modular MQB platform, while the profile is characterized by strong coupe roofline and an outstanding deep shoulder line. At the rear, it gets LED tail-lamps. Things inside are in similar vein with exquisitely finished wood panel on the dashboard and doors brings in a subdued richness while Nappa leather upholstery, wood inserts and soft touch areas on the dash feels like they belong to a more expensive car. Volkswagen Passat gets a long feature list which includes automatic parking, tyre pressure monitoring, three-zone climate control, sunroof and electric rear sunshade. For entertainment, the car is equipped with touchscreen unit that gets you Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. In India, Volkswagen Passat gets only one powertrain- the 2.0L TDI diesel mill mated to 6-speed DSG transmission. The engine is capable of producing the power output of 175bhp and maximum torque of 350Nm. I was pretty impressed with the mature suspension system and the safety net it provides with the seal of 5-star NCAP rating, the confidence is evident. The conservative styling may not appeal everyone out there, but if you are looking for a sedan with simple elegance, powerful engine, and abundance of comfort features, Passat is the best bet in your Rs. 30 lakh budget.

While the Passat is a good car, you can get better bang for your buck from competitors like the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry. Both start around the same price and offer a better value than the Passat. The Honda Accord offers more safety features, better crash test results, and two infotainment displays. Not only does the Camry rank higher in the midsize class, it also has a lower price. With the Camry, you'll get sportier handling and an infotainment system that uses a multifunction knob, which helps give it an upscale look and feel.

The Volkswagen Passat provides a comfortable ride with plenty of room for family and friends. Its spacious and quiet cabin includes high-quality materials. The Passat also offers a smooth, if not sporty, ride. The standard turbocharged four-cylinder engine delivers sufficient power, but the optional V6 provides more power and better acceleration. The Volkswagen Passat has a track record of average reliability. For above-average reliability, look to the Honda Accord. Reliability isn't the only reason this midsize car makes a better choice. Features are lacking in the Passat, including the small touch-screen display in its base infotainment system. The systems in rivals like the Accord and Camry are larger and look more up to date.

Look and Style is okay, Comfort is Good, Pickup is Excellent, Mileage is about 14 KMPL Best Features: It would be comfort and low noise inside while riding Needs to improve: Air condiioning which is extremly poor in Indian conditions Overall Experience: It was Satisfactory. No free services. All are paid services & expensive. Less service stations in India and in the event of an accident or if requires repairs you will have to run pillar to post to get it done on time. Sometimes, they will keep the car for 2-3 weeks and when you visit their any of the workshops, you will notice a lot of car's parked.

Dealership takes a month to acknowledge the problem and eventually rectify it. Had a wonderful experience driving it without Aircon in 45 degree centigrade heat for a month. - Front suspension damaged at 55000 kms. Company says Indian roads are potholed, no warranty is applicable, shell out 50000 bucks and get it repaired.  Free Advice - Please get the roads repaired before driving their cars - Engine malfunction sign keeps appearing. Probably the air in Delhi is too polluted. Shudder to think what's going to happen next   Overall Experience poor only because of the reliability issues
