The ‘A’ in XA represents that this new compact SUV is just 4 metre long and is specially designed and developed for the consumers who wish to enter the utility vehicle section. And the ‘X’ in Maruti XA Alpha stands for the cross-over category. Maruti Suzuki India unveiled the new Maruti XA Alpha in glittering Lava Red color, which proved to be a stunner at the Auto Expo 2012 held in Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. Maruti XA Alpha accompanied with Maruti Ertiga, which was also revealed at the Auto Expo, taking up the plan of expanding in the utility vehicles segment by Maruti Suzuki India a notch higher.  

To strengthen its portfolio, Maruti Suzuki India will continue to create new segments in the utility vehicle section of Indian car market. The firm will support this venture with the finest in technology, whereas intensifying its most prominent range of K-series petrol engines, Maruti Suzuki will certainly build on the victory of its diesel cars.

Under the hood, the new Maruti XA Alpha SUV is pretty sound and will come with 1.3 litre of K-Series fiat multi-jet diesel engine in production model, which gives a pretty good mileage of 8 to 10 km per litre that could give a fight to other compact SUVs in the market. The SUV could comfortably adjust five adults and has a wheelbase of 2500mm. The car has a maximum speed of 180 on the highways. When looking at this compact SUV, the car has a muscular stance and the wheel arches are prominent. The bonnet lines are neatly chiseled and has a daunting five apex grille holding eminent ‘S’ logo of Suzuki aligned at the centre. The headlights of Maruti XA Alpha are prominent and appear to be ready for action. The side profile of Maruti XA Alpha appears to be powerful and brawny starting from the beefy wheels to the burly lines on the doors.

Maruti Suzuki aims to make XA Alpha on the similar platform as Maruti gypsy. The only change would be its modern design and new features. Gypsy has been one of the favorites of many Indian consumers since last 2 decades. And the company is aiming the same kind of response from Maruti XA Alpha too.

At the unveiling of Maruti SUV concept, the CEO and MD of Maruti Suzuki, Mr. Shinzo Nakanishi mentioned that India, no doubt has been successful in becoming one of the top most automobile market across the globe. The firm is pretty confident about India’s automobile evolution and growth that will help Maruti Suzuki to strengthen its compact car portfolio, create new product groups, athwart fuel options and enter new segments. Mr. Nakanishi also said that the concept of Maruti XA Alpha compact SUV is specially developed and designed for the young consumers who have urban and chic lifestyle. This concept certainly displays the combined efforts of research and development of Suzuki and Maruti, which is actually a very big asset for the entire firm in India in future.
