June 7, 2011: Maruti Suzuki India Ltd has set its intentions to enter the multi utility vehicle (MPV) segment right when it showcased Maruti R3 concept prototype at the 10th Auto Expo held in New Delhi in early 2010. The Maruti R3 launch date was though at the time set to be early 2011 but recent reports have come in that the Maruti R3 launch could happen around the Diwali festive season this year. Analyzing Maruti R3 specifications and features it is almost sure that the Maruti R3 price in India in all probability would be around Rs7 lakh to Rs8 lakh. Among its competitors would be Mahindra Xylo, Toyota Innova, Tata Sumo Grande and other six/seven seater MUVs in India. The Maruti R3 variants will also be known when the Maruti MUV launches.
Maruti India is rigorously testing the soon to be launched MPV christened Maruti R3 which was spotted again undergoing test drive. The MPV was seen during its test run on the old Delhi, Gurgaon national highway. The new MPV being made under the Maruti stable seems to be short in length than what we had expected. The third row in the Maruti's yet to be launched MPV seems to be roomier enough to accommodate a bunch of kids. Being built on the Maruti Ritz hatchback's platform, the MPV is going to be 7-seater , featuring three rows. If we compare the MPV with the market leader Toyota Innova, the thrid row space in the Toyota Innova is huge, however the third row space in the new Maruti R3 seems to be petite. The reason behind the not so spacious third row is the low price which Maruti is targeting in order to attenuate Innova's sales.
According to the recent speculations in the Indian Auto Market, India's largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki India is now adding a new car to the line up of Maruti cars in India by manufacturing a new MUV. This new MUV is supposed to be launched by the end of this year and the company is working hard to launch this model on its proposed date. Recently more information have been revealed on the all new Maruti R3 MPV. This new 7-seater MPV has stretched wheelbase of 2740mm which is 380mm more than that of the Ritz, the company has also added an additional overhang.
