An all-rounder compact sedan

We wanted a car that can be used within the city as well as long drives.The Rapid did not disappoint us a wee bit. We chose the Style Plus - AT model which cost us 14.20 Lakhs onroad inclusive of a 3 year extended warranty & Bumper to Bumper insuranceCity Ride:This car is easy to handle in the crowded and narrow lanes of our town, the turning radius of 10.6 meters helps me to park it comfortably in our narrow car park as well. The automatic transmission relieves the pain of handling the clutch while negotiating slow bumper to bumper traffic. Highway drive:The Rapid is solid on highways with a strong road presence and good handling on curves even at high speeds. The braking system is slick as well. I touched a high speed of 140 kmph and even took a curve at 100 kmph, the car felt stable and grounded.At times during city driving, the gear transition is not smooth. Gears donot change even at higher RPM hence a considerable drop in the mileage.The car gives us an average of 13-14.5 for city drive and 19.5 - 21 on highways. Which is descent for a mid-size sedan of its class.The ground clearance at 163mm is a let down, especially when you have to negotiate the speed brakers & pot-holes on Indian roads. With improved looks, the New Rapid 2017 released in Nov 2016, the car looks sporty with the new front grill and bonnet. The tail part remains the same as the previous 2016 Rapid.Interiors are simple and neat but does not give a luxury feel.The instrument cluster and in-car entertainment system are no flashy either but does the job. Tip:To solve the Gear change issue, you can shift the gear to 'P' Park mode and press the accelerator till you reach 2500 rpm.Do this 2 times, this will clear all the Gearshift data in the memory.After this the gear change will be smooth
