Bought a Duster top end model diesel in March 2015. AC stopped working in less than a week. Horrible quality and experience. Imagine the pain that you expereince when your friends congratulate you for buying a new vehicle!

I visited the service centre and they told me that vehicle needed to be opened to fix the issue. The vehicle was requierd to be given for at least a day to fix the issue that anyway came from the factory. Imagine that you have to have the surgery for a one week old baby. Would you not conclude that baby had problems even before birth? I wrote the below letter to Renault:


A simple question. Did I pay for a prototype that needs one day to determine and fix the cause after just a few days of its operation? Which quality system / procedures do you follow? Do you not consider it obligatory to replace such a faulty vehicle with a new one and pay for its root cause failure analysis instead of making a customer pay for it? I do hope you would like to ensure that such a fault is not reproduced in other vehicles?

Your dealers / service centres can hardly do justice to such a serious issue. I am afraid this is one of the many issues that I will face. Any kind of warranty may not be of any real use during the life of the vehicle. For your info I completed 1.5 lac kms in a Maruti 800, 1.8 lac kms in a Ford Fiesta and was looking to clock at least 3 lac kms in the Duster in about six years time. My own driving mission is more important and engaging to me than any 'gangs' around. None of these vehicles needed engine overhauling or any major repairs during my ownership.

Another vehicle of Honda make that I am having these days never had any issue whatsoever until now. I get a feeling that the Duster unit that I have received will be quite inadequate of being able to meet my basic expectations. I would like you to seriously consider what I am saying. I may not argue beyond a point. I feel very sorry for myself for my own choice. Rest assured I will not compromise my safety with or without the vehicle in question here. Let me know how you suggest to proceed. I have not yet gone for registration even if I purchased a number before purchasing the vehicle itself.

    Generally, the dealers make the car's name bad.if service provided like service then the brand itself is protected.

    That is a very bad experience but let me tell you my story. I purchased my duster around six months ago and though my service centre was not exactly in the city (about 25 km away), my dealer asked me to drop my vehicle at the dealership and it was taken to the service centre from there. I was dropped to a location of my choice by the dealer and later on was called to the dealership to collect my duster. It all depends on the dealer sometimes, if a faulty car was delivered to you then they hardly take any responsibility. It is a case of bad luck but believe me when I say that Duster is not a bad car.     Great. Collecting the vehcile and delivering the vehicle at your place or designated location is a standard service offered by all. Let me update you and this forum with my further experience. My vehicle has been to the workshop three times for the same issue. Let me add that pick up and drop of the vehicle have been available to me as well and I dont consider this to be a differentator. These are just fair weather services. On a positive note, some of my AC parts have been replaced with new ones. Vehicle was inspected thoroughly and hopefully should solve the AC problem. So all is right as far as on-paper matters are concerned. You would however understand that life of vehicle gets compromised with all such fittings that require opening of certain potions of the vehicle in order to fix these parts. In this case for example, dashboard was opened. On the surface of it, all has been fitted well and you cannot make out anything. But I can make out that cabin noise has increased. Who is responsible for that? Can I ever prove it? If my vehicle was not required to be opened, I can make a statement that it would have run fantastic for 10 years. Now imagine that it runs fantastic only for 5 years. Who compensates for 5 years lost? It is me who will bear this burden and there will be no way to prove to anyone that these issues happened becasue of the fact that baby was born with a fault from the factory itself. Hope I am clear.
