Maruti Vitara Brezza is the best compact SUV, so it's been a year I have been behind the wheels of this beautifully crafted robust beast and trust me this is the one car I have loved since Toyota Fortuner. Seriously this car is a real deal if you wish for power, comfort, fun, adventure and the list is endless. So tighten your seat belts and enjoy the briefly detailed review of my vitara brezza based on my personal experience. Looks- Vitara Brezza has resembled the looks of baby Range Rover Evoque. The front bumper is wide and high, the bumper grill has ample of nicely designed air intakes. The bull horn LED DRLs at the front and rear attributes the glance of car. The boxy design accords robust and macho glare to the vehicle, the side profile is simple but practical cuts through the air flawlessly. Engine power and air intake- now most people come out with a question, isn't the engine is small for the beast? Trust me it's the most fun to drive engine in the segment. Now for your comprehension you can simply relate to torque in terms of pick up and power in terms of top speed. So, higher the torque quickly the car would achieve the 100km\hr. Mark and higher the power higher the probability that vehicle would touch the last digits in the speedometer. Maruti Vitara Brezza is equipped with Fiat's 1248cc turbocharged diesel engine which is tuned to produce 200-newton meters of torque and 90 ps of power. The engine is a normal cruiser under 1750 rpm but as soon as it crosses the 1750 rpm mark the story gets reversed from the beauty it becomes a beast and pulls you so hard until the red line which is 5000 rpm (Red line is that limit which tells that your vehicle engine is capable of going beyond this but it could cause damage to the engine). In the city you have enough performance to drive without any hassle but as you reach out on highway greed to race the car develops immediately and you soon realize that this machine is remarkably quick and fun to drive. Overtaking is not a big deal for the Brezza just put your foot down and you become the King of the road, in fact, competitors offering 1.5L or 1.6L diesel engines are not as effortless on highways as the 1.3L diesel engine for Brezza. Since the Brezza's bonnet stands high, the air intake is also placed at a higher position which allows some serious water wading capabilities without a hassle. I have crossed two times really deep logged water (obviously unknowing the depth otherwise I would never be doing that) but I didn't get stuck, thanks to 200mm of ground clearance and higher air intake. After crossing the waters I immediately checked the car and found that the car was sunk up to half of the radiator but the car engine didn't stop, impressive isn't it? Transmission and Gear Ratios- Vitara Brezza is mated to 5 speed manual transmission (also available in auto variants) which is decent because most of the time you drive in city and hardly you go up to fourth gear, on the highways when you cruise around 140km\hr. at that point you might consider the need for the sixth gear because the engine revs high and sound easily filters into the cabin. The gear ratios are perfect a big thumbs up to Maruti for that. For your comprehension you can assume that a perfect gear ratio is when you always have ample power under your foot all the time. Tires, Handling and suspension - The Vitara Brezza's top-end variants sit on 16-inch tubeless radial tires with 215mm of contact with the road which provides exceptional grip and stability to the vehicle. The chunky tires of the car absorb the bumps and potholes effectively and give you a smoother ride. The handling is accurate and direct which makes you connected with the road. The steering of Brezza is a bit heavier than its competitors which you would get used to very soon. The advantage of this is when you want to manoeuvre the car at some serious speeds you never feel out of control. The car itself inspires your confidence to go around the corners and turns at high speeds. The suspension setup of Vitara Brezza is on the stiffer side. You can feel bumps inside the cabin at low speeds (20-40km\hr.) but after you cross the 40km\hr, mark the ride is smoother and offers great comfort. At triple digit speed the car is remain planted and obeys you pretty well thanks to stiffer suspension setup. Safety- The Vitara Brezza is equipped with loads of safety features but the real question is how practical they are on the road? The breaks of Vitara Brezza are quite responsive apply the brakes and you are stopped immediately. The brakes are integrated with ABS (which is the anti-lock braking) system so you can apply the brakes as hard as you want but the tires won't screech in pain and steering never gets locked. Once I saved a 12 year old boy riding a bike by a margin of 10 cm, the car became 60km\hr. The EBD system helps a lot to keep the car stable by distributing the braking power equally on each wheel which keeps the car planted when you apply brakes hard. The driver and co-passenger do get the airbags for safety while the side airbags and knee airbags are missing. However, the global NCAP has awarded an overall rating of four stars for safety to the vitara brezza which is quite amazing at this price point. We Indians crave for mileage as we all expect some cheap running costs. Currently I easily get 19-20 kms to a liter. After sales service ? Glitch or Eminent? Let me tell you first time buyers definitely opt for maruti for some very obvious reasons so the service team take advantage of that do stall you and address your issues in the second or third visit for the same problem. So, yes after-sales service isn't that good as you would get in the Toyota or Hyundai. Interiors? The interiors are decent but if you compare them with its Korean rivals then you might get disappointed, the plastics feel cheap the finishes are not that perfect as they should be. My suggestion is you must visit the nearest dealership, have a look and decide yourself whether they interiors at this price point are apt or not. Hope you would find the information helpful.
