Ok here is how it goes. I get a minimum mileage of 14 kmpl in city traffic with AC, 20-22 kmpl in open city roads and 22-27 on highways or open roads. This is what I do: 1. Fuel: I use Indian oil regular petrol. (experienced the highest FE with this brand, with proof) 2. Stick with 3 or 4 gear at 25-40 kmph, and keep revs between 1000-1300 rpm. 3. Only use AC when in 3, 4 or 5 gears, and not during 1-2 gear when you accelerate (Its ok in traffic) 4. When you find open stretch, dont floor the pedal, gently reach 45 KMPH and shift to 5th ASAP. maintain speed between 50-80 kmph for 25-27 kmpl mileage. (It works with 5 passengers also) 5. Maintain the car properly in tyre pressure,oil etc. 6. Reset the mileage counter once you change your driving style or come out of traffic, else the traffic miilege and open road miilege will average out. Hence you will never exceed 18 KMPL mark if you dont reset the indicator. 8. No matter what you do, be safe. Don't hurry to reach 5 mins early. 9. It doesnt mean I drive like a snail, I drive at legal speeds, but when it comes to mileage I prefer 45-50 kmph on 5th gear in city and 85-120 kmph on highways.
