The production-spec version of the 2018 Skoda Vision X concept has been christened the 'Kamiq'. It is going to be Skoda’s smallest SUV yet and will fall in the compact SUV segment globally. There’s a fair chance that the 2020 made-in-India Skoda SUV will borrow its styling and name.
The Kamiq follows Skoda’s typical SUV nomenclature with a name beginning with the letter “K” and ending in “Q”. The Skoda Kamiq will be based on Volkswagen Group’s MQB A0 platform, which will be localised in India by 2020. When launched, the Kamiq will take on the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks, Renault Captur, Maruti Suzuki S-Cross, and the second-gen Duster as well as Kia Seltos. It will also compete against its Volkswagen sibling, the VW T-Cross.
