HCIL, the leading passenger car manufacturer has introduced the anniversary edition trim of Honda Amaze in India. This special edition will be available with S and VX variants in both petrol and diesel engine options. The company has introduced this edition to mark its first anniversary and to celebrate the strong sales of about 80,000 units across the country. This 'Anniversary Edition' trim is available with a sporty body kit including door visors, exhaust tips, under-spoilers on all sides and a trunk spoiler. It also gets exclusive interior package including a premium seat upholstery and contrasting wood finish panel on dashboard. The remaining aspects will depend upon the grade of the variant. As far as specifications are concerned, the petrol versions are equipped with 1.2-litre i-VTEC that displaces 1198cc and it can give away a mileage of 18 Kmpl. On the other hand, the diesel versions are fitted with a 1.5-litre, i-DTEC diesel engine that is capable of giving away 25.8kmpl, which is best in its class. Since the vehicle is available on the S and VX variants, it comes with significant aspects like a 2-DIN music system with steering mounted audio controls, driver seat height adjuster, electrically adjustable external mirrors, key-less entry and rear center armrest with cup holder.

Exteriors:

The all new Honda Amaze Anniversary Edition is fitted with distinctly designed cosmetics, which enhances the appeal of this compact sedan. Although, its overall body structure remained to be the same, the special body kit has added to its appeal. On its frontage, its body colored bumper is fitted with an under-spoiler, which given an aerodynamic look to it. The remaining aspects like the headlight cluster and radiator grille are same as the existing variants. The VX trim gets front fog lamps, while the S trim has provision for the same. On the side profile, it gets features like door visors and side skirting. The window sill surround and the pillars has black sash-tape, while the door handles and the ORVMs are in body color. The wheel arches of the 'S' trim have been fitted with conventional steel wheels, whereas the VX trim is blessed with a set of alloy wheels. The rear profile of is blessed with chrome tipped exhaust pipe, bumper and deck-lid spoiler . In addition to these, it also gets the Anniversary Edition badging that distinguishes this trim from the existing variants.

Interiors:

The interiors of this trim is also blessed with an exclusive interior package that enhances the elegance of the cabin. The dashboard is blessed with glossy wood-line inserts, while the seats have been covered with premium seat covers, which provides additional comfort, while adding to the plushness of the cabin. Its remaining aspects are identical to those given in the 'S' and 'VX' variants. The 'S' trim is blessed with utility aspects like front passenger seat back pocket, passenger side vanity mirror with lid, front speakers and green-tinted front windscreen . In addition to the aspects given in 'S' trim, the other VX variant is blessed with beige floor carpets, silver inside door handles, rear defogger and power foldable and adjustable ORVMs.

Engine and Performance:

The petrol versions of this compact sedan have been fitted with a 1.2-litre, i-VTEC petrol engine that displaces 1198cc . This engine is integrated with 4-cylinders, 16-valves yet, it runs on the SOHC valve configuration. It is incorporated with a multi-point fuel injection system that allows the motor to produce 86.8bhp at 6000rpm, while yielding 109Nm at 4500rpm. The front wheels of this sedan will draw the torque output via a 5-speed manual gearbox and delivers a mileage of 18 Kmpl. On the other hand, diesel version of this Honda Amaze Anniversary Edition is equipped with 1.5-litre, i-DTEC diesel motor that is skillfully coupled with a 5-speed manual gearbox. This DOHC based motor displaces 1498cc, which allows it to produce 98.6bhp at 3600rpm in combination with a peak torque of 200Nm at 1750rpm. The manufacturer claims that this engine has the ability to give away a peak mileage of 25.8 Kmpl, which is rather impressive.

Braking and Handling:

Both the petrol and diesel variants come with a proficient braking and robust suspension mechanism. The front wheels have been fitted with disc brakes, while the rear wheels have drum brakes. Both the diesel versions of 'S' and 'VX' trims have been blessed with anti-lock braking system with electronic brake-force distribution system, which will further improve the braking mechanism. The front axle of this vehicle is fitted with McPherson strut type of suspension , whereas its rear axle is fitted with a torsion beam type of system. This keeps it stable and well balanced, irrespective of road conditions. In addition to these, it has a highly responsive collapsible electric power steering system. It has a maximum turn radius of 4.7 meters, which reduces the efforts while driving.

Comfort Features:

The 'S' trim is blessed with a list of comfort features including power steering with tilt column, air conditioning system with heater, all four power windows with driver side auto down function, central locking system, driver seat height adjuster, key less entry, electrically adjustable ORVMs, rear seat center armrest with cup holder, passenger side vanity mirror with lid, 3-grab rails, trunk light, ignition key reminder, accessory power socket and front passenger seat back pocket. It also has utility features like ECO lamp, fuel consumption display, bottle holders, trunk light, tachometer, headlight adjuster and center interior light . In addition to these, it is also incorporated with a 2-DIN music system that features a Radio/MP3 player, USB and AUX-In connectivity. Beside the features of 'S' trim, the VX variant has 4-speakers, driver side vanity mirror, electrically foldable external mirrors, rear defogger and driver seat back pocket.

Safety Features:

The company is offering this Honda Amaze Anniversary Edition with the same features that are standard in 'S' and 'VX' trims. Here, the 'S' variant is incorporated with an engine immobilizer, high mount stop lamp , wave key and driver seat belt reminder. The 'VX' trim has advanced safety aspects like front seat belts with load limiter and pretensioner, SRS airbags for front passengers and anti lock braking system with electronic brake-force distribution.

Pros:

Cons:

1. Lack of body graphics as compared to other special editions is a big minus.
