Figo 2015-2019 1.5D Trend Plus MT Review

Astounding looks, excellent engine performance and class leading features are what defines the new Figo hatchback. The Ford Figo 1.5D Trend MT is one among its several variants. On the outside, it has some visible character lines all over that add to its style. The front fascia has large headlamps surrounding its radiator grille, which has a chrome surround. Also, there are a pair of round shaped fog lamps fitted to its bumper. The side profile has a conventional set of 14 inch steel wheels, while side turn indicators are equipped to its ORVMs. Meanwhile, the rear end too looks sporty with an expressive tail gate with variant badging and a wide windscreen with high mount stop lamp. It is 3886mm long and has wheelbase of 2491mm. The width and height measures around 1695mm and 1525mm respectively. Passenger security is best ensured as it is loaded with significant features like immobilizer, three point seat belts, and airbags for front passengers. On the other hand, its spacious cabin houses well cushioned seats of which, the rear one is foldable. Besides these, the map pockets, vanity mirrors, infotainment system, power windows and a few others are useful for providing enhanced comfort. This trim is brought in with a 1.5-litre TDCi oil burner that is powerful and makes 99bhp. Not just this, but by returning a healthy mileage of approximately 25.83 Kmpl, it also becomes highly fuel efficient and one of the finest in its segment. On the whole, a fantastic model which is most likely to be a bigger success than its predecessor.

Exteriors:

Looks wise, it is more sporty and has some striking attributes. Its front is designed with large radiator grille that has chrome surround and silver painted bars. The headlight cluster with chrome bezel is equipped with high intensity headlamps and turn indicators. The body colored bumper has an air intake section, which is further flanked by round shaped fog lamps. The sides have body colored outside mirrors, door handles and B pillar black appliqué. There are also steel wheels of 14 inches and tubeless tyres of size 175/65 R14. At the back, a couple of fog lamps are housed on the bumper, whereas the stylish tail lamps sit around the boot lid. The high mount stop lamp and windscreen are the other aspects available in its rear end.

Interiors:

Good seating arrangement along with ample head and leg room is guaranteed inside. The rear seat with folding function is only an advantage, which allows to bring in more luggage. The fabric inserts on door panels and lunar grey badge on steering wheel, audio bezel and handles adds more elegance. Both the sunvisors have vanity mirrors along with a ticket strap on driver's side. The instrument cluster includes a tachometer, distance to empty, gear shift indicator, and low fuel warning display as well. Both the front seats have map pockets, and a 12V accessory socket is also available. There are grab handles with coat hooks and a front dome lamp as well. Apart from all these, it also has a rear parcel tray, chrome plated parking brake lever, adjustable front headrests, and fabric seat covers.

Engine and Performance:

An excellent diesel motor lies below its bonnet, which performs extraordinarily besides being fuel efficient. This 1.5-litre oil burner has a displacement capacity of 1498cc and integrated with a common rail direct injection system. It can deliver a torque of 215Nm in the range of 1750 to 3000rpm besides producing 99bhp at 3750rpm. The mileage on bigger roads comes to about 25.83 Kmpl and 22.4 Kmpl in the urban areas. Good performance by its five speed manual transmission gearbox too, which transfers power to its front wheels. With this, it can effortlessly attain a top speed of nearly 150 Kmph and breaks the 100 Kmph speed limit in just 13 seconds.

Braking and Handling:

It gets the best of suspension system that assures of a smooth and jerk free drive. This mechanism features an independent McPherson strut on the front axle besides coil spring and anti roll bar. Whereas the rear one is affixed with a semi independent twist beam including twin gas and oil filled shock absorbers. The electric power assisted steering column provides good control over the vehicle thus, leading to better handling. In terms of braking, there are front ventilated discs and rear drum brakes incorporated for exceptional performance.

Comfort Features:

The passengers can play their favorite tracks through an infotainment system that has four speakers positioned in the front and rear cabin. It comes with a 2-line MFD screen and has FM/AM radio tuner. Also, this unit supports auxiliary input, USB port as well as Bluetooth connectivity. The manual air conditioning unit ensures a good environment inside, while there are power windows with one touch up and down function on driver's side. The dashboard mounted ''MyFordDock,'' lets occupants to store, charge phones, and even integrate devices like navigation system and MP3 player to the audio unit. In addition to these, it also has electric boot release, battery saver, tilt steering wheel mounted with audio and phone controls, power adjustable ORVMs, boot lamp, guide me home headlamps and many others.

Safety Features:

Comparatively, the number of security aspects are low than the others in the top range. Yet, this option assures protection to good extent with the features it has. Mainly, its make with a rigid body structure turns out a major advantage as it holds the ability to endure impact force and prevent major injuries to those seated inside it. The engine immobilizer or anti theft system in other words, is of great use since it prevents the motor from running without a right key. Then, there are three point seat belts for all along with a middle lap belt in the rear. A few others like driver and passenger airbag, auto door lock, keyless entry, high mount stop lamp and door ajar indicator further improve the safety levels.

Pros:

1. Huge cabin with ample leg space.
2. Fuel economy is rather decent.

Cons:

1. Lack of ABS is a drawback.
2. More sophisticated features could have been added.
