6 Series 640d Eminence Review

The BMW 6 Series is a luxury grand coupe from the celebrated German automaker BWM. In 2003, a new second generation of the vehicle was launched, with its focus based heavily on performance. The company launched its latest version at the 2012 Geneva motor show. The four doored coupe was now pitted against rivals such as the Audi A7 and the Mercedes-Benz CLS. This new version of the vehicle is available in two variants, of which the BMW 6 Series 640d Eminence is an attractive one. This trim comes with a diesel engine that takes it from naught to 100kmph within just 5.4 seconds. The vehicle has a low yet streamlined body design that is blending good looks with agility. The machine's gentle metallic skin is of a flawless texture, and a multitude of attractive paint options are available for the customer to choose from. The cabin of the vehicle strikes a balance between stylish design and functional comfort features for the passengers' benefit. In addition to a comfortable seating arrangement covered in premium upholstery, there are many added materials and design elements that enrich the cabin and give the passengers a plush experience. There is a sound musical system for the entertainment needs of the cockpit, one among numerous other sophisticated equipment that the cabin offers.

Exteriors:

The front of the vehicle carries the signature BMW grille, with the company's emblem adorned atop it. The slenderly designed headlamp cluster is integrated with adaptive LED lights with four LED DRL light rings. It also features an auto high beam assistance. Beside all of this, there are LED fog lights at the bottom. The body of the vehicle also hosts numerous other high appeal features, including a BMW individual high gloss shadow line. Going along with this is a BMW individual exterior line in aluminum. The side doors also add flavor to the vehicle's sporty build. The exterior mirrors are foldable, and they come with mirror heating and an automatic anti dazzle function. The exterior layer of the body is also given a heat protection glazing, to shield it from the harmful rays of the sun.

Interiors:

The car's interiors are decorated for both stylish and functional aspects. A rich leather Dakota upholstery covers the seats, available in three color choices of black, cinnamon brown and ivory white. The interior design also includes aluminum fine cutting finishes, elements of fine wood in two different color options. The instrument panel, the door trim and the center console are all having the exclusive leather Nappa upholstery with contrast stitching. There is a 26cm instrument display with an individual character design for drive modules. At the front, the multifunction sports leather steering wheel is integrated with gear shift paddles. The interior mirrors have an automatic anti dazzle function. The driver and passenger seats are electrically adjustable with a memory facility, and a lumbar support as well. Floor mats in velor add to the plushness of the cabin. A highlight of the cabin is the electrical glass sunroof, which relieves the confined feeling of being in a car.

Engine and Performance:

This variant is fitted with a 6-cylinder inline diesel engine that is integrated with a TwinPower turbocharger. This engine has a displacement capacity of 2993cc. It produces a max power of 313hp, and a peak torque of 630Nm. The capacity of the engine is channeled through an 8-speed steptronic sport automatic transmission.

Braking and Handling:

The company has paid attention to the braking and handling systems of the vehicle, ensuring that it is of good standards. Firstly, there are strong calipers arming all of the disc brake. In addition to this, there are many techno aids like ABS and EBD that further add to a sound and safe braking. A cornering brake control facility ensures that the vehicle stays well controlled when turning and braking. There is a dynamic stability control feature, which further brings secure handling to the driver.

Comfort Features:

There is a Harman Kardon surround sound system with 16 loudspeakers, providing for the entertainment needs of the passengers. The cabin is also equipped with Bluetooth facility that allows audio streaming, and is equipped with USB connectivity. In addition to this, there is an iDrive that comes along with a 25.9cm colour display for optimum passenger pleasure. A DVD drive is also present, along with an integrated hard drive for storing maps and audio files. A professional Navigation system is offered along with 3D maps, and this lightens the driver's burden in seeking out his destination. Providing for the needs of a night time drive, there is an ambient light that is present along with mood lights for maximum passenger satisfaction. The automatic air conditioning system has a 4-zone control along with rear air vents for optimized circulation. The center armrest at the rear has a cup holders and a special storage feature as well. In addition to all of this, the company has incorporated the vehicle with exclusive BMW apps that further improve the ride quality.

Safety Features:

The manufacture of the vehicle has been incorporated with a host of sound safety arrangements. Active headrests at the front provide shielding for both the front passengers. In addition to this, there is an 'active protection with attentiveness assistant' feature. There are airbags for the driver and front passenger, and side airbags for extra cushioning. Three point seatbelts secure all of the passengers, and this is elevated with the help of pyrotechnic belt tensioners and belt force limiter at the front. Its body structure has side impact protection beams, which absorbs the collision impacts in times of emergency. A run flat indicator keeps the driver informed of potential hazards in his tyre arrangements. An electronic parking brake with an auto hold function guards the vehicle when reversing and parking. This element is further aided with a rear view camera, and a park distance control facility at the front and the rear. Beside all of this, the vehicle provides special attention to the safety needs of children with an ISOFIX child seat mounting. Anti lock braking system enhances control when braking and cornering, and this is further improved with a brake assist function.

Pros:

1. Engine performance is simply exceptional.

2. Attractive interior look and exterior design.

3. Innovative comfort and safety features.

Cons:

1. Minimum ground clearance is too low.

2. Lack of engine in petrol format could bar customer satisfaction.

3. Its cost of ownership is too high.

My BMW 630d M Sport 2021 With 3.0 Litre Engine

I?ve had my BMW 630d for a while now, and I have to tell that owning one is a true delight. With high end materials, a superb entertainment system, and exceptionally comfy seats that are ideal for lengthy trips. The interior overall is superb. The overall design both inside and out, radiates sophistication and the road presence is high. There are a few minor setbacks however. The trunk is massive but there is no space for the spare tire hence most of that trunk space is in vain and is utilised only for the spare, but this is minor as the car has run flat tires and a spare is not really required. For a diesel engine, the fuel efficiency is a little below average at about 10km/l the absence of a heads up display (HUD) which would have been a fantastic addition to a car of this class, also caught me off guard.Read More
