July 26, 2016: The Mercedes-AMG SLC43 has been launched in India at a price of Rs 77.5 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). It replaces the SLK55 AMG. The roadster is the first AMG model to get the ‘43’ label in its name and it uses a smaller engine than its predecessor. While the SLK used a 5.5-litre V8 engine, the SLC43 tones things down and employs a 3.0-litre, twin-turbo V6 instead. The new engine produces 367PS of power and a peak torque of 520Nm. The output is channelled through a 9-speed automatic gearbox (with paddle-shifters) to the rear wheels, and Mercedes-Benz claims the new roadster can pull off the 0-100kmph sprint in 4.7 seconds. The top speed is electronically limited to 250kmph. The AMG SLC43 will be a direct import. Rivals include Audi TT and BMW Z4.
