Honda Zero Alpha expert overview
Overview
The Honda 0 Alpha is an electric concept that was showcased at the Japan Mobility Show 2025 It has been confirmed for a launch in India in 2027. The compact SUV marks the starting point of Honda’s new 0 lineup of cars, which feature a brand new design philosophy for the brand, sitting below the 0 SUV and 0 Saloon.
In India, the 0 Alpha will have its work cut out with rivals like the Hyundai Creta Electric, VinFast VF6, Maruti e Vitara and Mahindra BE 6 ready to take a bite out of its sales. The Japanese carmaker plans to manufacture it locally in India and here’s everything it has revealed about what is arguably going to be the most exciting launch from Honda in India after many years.
Exterior
Based on the “Thin, Light, and Wise” design philosophy, the Honda 0 Alpha looks like nothing else we’ve seen from Honda before. The car looks properly modern, but with a sense of sophistication in its design. What we see here is a concept, but the production-ready model isn’t going to be a whole lot different than this.
The nose is flat, but busy with different elements and body coloured-panels breaking the monotony. It sports an upside-down U-shaped LED DRL light bar which stretches across the Piano Black panel, which also houses the new illuminated Honda logo in the middle. The dual-pod LED headlights are neatly integrated in it and it sports a prominent chin lower down with a busy design and an air dam in the middle.
In contrast, the profile is super clean with no cuts and creases, just progressive flaring of body panels towards the piano black wheel arches. It sits on 19-inch aero-styled alloy wheels. An interesting design element is the window line which tapers upwards towards the C-pillar, almost merging into the roofline along with the massive C-pillar, which gets no window. This gives it a really minimalist look.
The rear styling is pretty straightforward. A big rear window glass with the Honda lettering in the middle, outlined by a sleek U-shaped LED light bar accentuates the width of the car. Just like the front, the rear bumper is prominent with a split diffuser-type treatment that looks sporty and chunky in equal parts.
Overall, the styling is unlike anything we’ve seen in India, not just from Honda itself, but from other brands as well.
Interior
While there are no cabin images of the concept yet, going by what Honda has showcased for the bigger 0 SUV concept, you can expect a properly modern cabin with big screens. It will be a five-seater, and given that this is a ground-up EV (born EV), we expect Honda to extract the maximum possible space and practicality that they can offer from this footprint.
We expect the features to be on-par with the segment and the list should include multiple digital screens, climate control, ventilated seats, a branded audio system, a glass/panoramic sunroof, auto ORVM, auto IRVM, wireless phone chargers and cooled storage spaces.
Safety
What kind of safety features Honda will be offering with the 0 Alpha is under wraps, but you can still expect the regular equipment like multiple airbags, electronic aids like electronic stability control, hill-hold assist and tyre pressure monitoring system to be on offer. A full suite of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) will be on the cards as well.
Performance
While the information on this front is scarce, we do know that the Honda 0 Alpha is going to be a front-wheel driven EV, powered by a single electric motor. Battery sizes could range from 60kWh to 75kWh, but this is just a speculation.
Another confirmed piece of information is that the EV will be able to charge from 15 to 80 percent in just 15 mins, so expect fast DC charging capabilities.
