If the nature of accident is major, do not move your vehicle from the accident spot as your insurer might require a spot survey. Record the nature of injury inflicted both on you and fellow passengers and keep a track of all medical expenses borne.

Make a mental note or record the details −both minute and large− of the events preceding the accident. Don’t let the minute details escape your attention as these will be of immense help during the time of making a claim. Listing missing or damaged items kept in your car is also a great idea.
