I bought the dual tone Liva (Red & White). And I am quite delighted with it.
Let me start with the Exterior.
It's simple but elegant. I would understand why many would not prefer it compared the more flashy designs available in the market. But for me, I am quite comfortable with a simple but yet slightly out of the box look. Thus the Liva dual tone.
Low for the interior, again simple, but very spacious. Don't understand the fuss people make about the centre console. It's not t read more 20
Toyota, one of the world’s leading automakers, after launching its premium offerings in the country wanted to tap India’s ever-popular B-segment. The automaker introduced the Etios Liva hatchback in the year 2011. The Etios project, which included the Etios sedan and the Etios Liva hatch, was developed keeping the developing markets in mind, especially India. However, apart from its short-lived initial hype, the Etios Liva never really picked up in terms of sales, mainly due to its plain Jane looks compared to its sporty looking rivals such as the Maruti Suzuki Swift, Ford Figo, Hyundai Grand i10, and others. Over the course of its existence in the Indian market, the Etios Liva has received several updates and facelifts -- the last one was launched in September 2016. What has changed in this reliable workhorse with the latest update? Let’s find out.
Things We Like in Etios Liva
Spacious cabin with absolutely flat rear floor.
Welcome additions such as electrically foldable ORVMS, three removable rear headrests, improved instrument cluster, and others.
The new front bumper along with the discontinued Etios Liva TRD Sportivo-borrowed gunmetal alloy wheels makes it look a little younger.
Appreciable standard safety features – dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD, front seat belts with pre-tensioners, ISOFIX child seat mounts and three-point seatbelt for the rear middle passenger.
Frugal and refined 1.4-litre diesel engine.
Toyota’s unmatched reliability and hassle-free ownership.
Things We Don't Like in Etios Liva
Toyota has improved visible signs of costing cutting over several updates, but it still looks low-rent.
Missing features such as push button start-stop, touchscreen infotainment system, rear parking camera and others.
Lacklustre styling. The current facelift does uplift the aesthetics, but the competitors look more modern and sportier.
Stand Out Features
Low ownership cost, reliability and comprehensive standard+extended warranty.
Only car in the segment to offer standard dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat mounts and front seat belts with pre-tensioners across all its variants.
If a boxy design is your thing and the Etios Liva’s design doesn’t bother you, then look no further. With the current facelift, Toyota has made the standard safety features of the Etios Liva its vital USP. Also, the automaker’s renowned after sales service and hassle-free ownership is unmatched.
