Boxster highlights

February 14, 2017: Porsche will launch the new 718 Boxster in India tomorrow, i.e. February 15, 2017. The car will arrive in India after over an year of its global debut. It will be powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre, flat-four engine producing 300PS of power and 380Nm of torque. The engine is expected to be mated with Porsche's seven-speed, dual-clutch 'PDK' automatic transmission. Porsche claims that the Boxster will complete the 0-100kmph sprint in 5.1 seconds and reach a top speed of 275kmph.

Porsche has revealed new generation Boxster and its S variant, which is now christened as 718 Boxster and 718 Boxster S. The German sports carmaker announced in December last year that both the Boxster and Cayman will get the 718 monikers and will feature equally powerful flat-four cylinder turbo boxer engines. Porsche derived the name '718' from their iconic flat-four cylinder (boxer) engine powered car of 1957, which had won numerous races for it. The company further added that the numerals also sits neatly besides the established sports car icons with numbered identities – 718 Boxster, 911 Carrera, 918 Spyder, 919 Hybrid. While deliveries of the 718 Boxster in India have already commenced, the official launch has been scheduled for February 15, 2017.

Porsche introduces Boxster and 911 Carrera Black Edition

Porsche has released a special series for the Boxster and 911 Carrera models as the Black Edition. Essentially a splattering of black paintjob and black interior package, adds more class and elegance to the sports car range. Boxster Black Edition is a mid-engine roadster propelled by 2.7-litre flat engine producing 265bhp of smooth power. The soft top roof and rollover protection bar are both in black and there is a wind deflector helping avoid undesirable turbulence when the roof is down.
