    May 25, 2015: Home grown auto major Mahindra & Mahindra today launched the facelifted XUV 500. The new age XUV 500, as the company calls it, comes with a plethora of changes inside-out. Its front fascia has completely been redesigned and now boasts a new set of projector headlamps with ‘S’ shaped daytime running LEDs, a new bumper with wider air dam, new alloy wheels and a plenty of chrome garnishing on the grille, fog lamps and wherever possible. While the major additions on the inside includes the push start button, electric sunroof, 7-inch infotainment system, 6-way power seats, logo puddle lamps, reverse camera with assist and passive key less entry. Under the hood is the same 2.2-liter four-cylinder mHawk diesel engine that puts out 140 bhp @ 3,750 rpm and 330 Nm @ 1,600-2,800 rpm. As standard, it gets a 6-speed manual gearbox with 2WD and 4WD options like before.

    June 22, 2015: Toyota has shed more details on the new GD series of turbo diesel engines which will pull the next-generation Innova and Fortuner. In May 2015, Toyota has revealed the 2016 Hilux pickup truck, the same vehicle on which the next generation of Fortuner is based upon. Though, the exteriors of the new Fortuner will be largely different from this vehicle but the interiors are expected to remain the same. Hilux's dashboard features high mounted A/C vents in the centre, silver brushed aluminum trims, leather stitched steering wheel with a plethora of controls, ice blue back-lit that lends a gentle touch. Earlier in January, Toyota Kirloskar Motors updated this model. The 2015 model, apart from regular 3.0-liter motor, comes equipped with an uprated version of Innova's 2,494cc turbo-diesel engine, which now puts out 142bhp of max power at 3,400rpm and 343Nm of peak torque between 1600-2800rpm, a significant 42bhp and 143Nm higher than the Innova, with an ARAI acclaimed fuel mileage of 13.31 kmpl.     December 08, 2014: Maruti Suzuki has received its single largest order to manufacture 4,000 units of its sports utility vehicle, the Gypsy from the Indian Army. Though the details about the financial value is still in wraps but assuming the ex-showroom price of Rs 5.42-5.96 lac, the order should be in the vicinity of Rs 216 to 238 crores. Up unitil now, the car maker has manufactured close to 1,40,000 Gypsys for India and 22 per cent of these have been exclusively produced for the armed forces. Out of 4000 units, the company has already dispacted 2100 units over the past two months while the rest of the order will made in the next four to five months.

    May 5, 2015: Mercedes-Benz has revealed the 2015 G-Class family and this time the capable G500 model features a new 4.0-litre biturbo V8 engine which also does duty in G500 4x4 concept. The mighty powertrain produce an output of 416bhp with 610Nm of peak torque which allows SUV to attain an acceleration of 0 to 100 in 5.9 seconds. Earlier, the company has stopped the production of its insane off-road vehicle, G63 AMG 6x6, to ensure rarity of the model. The G63 AMG 6x6 is powered by an AMG 5.5-litre V8 biturbo engine that s puts out a peak output of 544 hp and 760 Nm of torque. All the power is sent to all the six wheels as needed through an AMG SPEEDSHIFT PLUS 7G-TRONIC automatic transmission. This company will replace the G63 AMG 6x6 with a more conventional four-wheeled G 500 4x42. The G500 4x42 gets a smaller 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine putting out 422 hp. The off-road features include permanent all-wheel drive, an off-road reduction in the transfer case, portal axles and lockable three differentials.

    March 16, 2015: BMW has introduced the first plug-in hybrid production car from the company's core brand, X5 xDrive40e. This is powered by a four-cylinder petrol engine with TwinPower Turbo technology and a synchronous electric motor, producing a total output of 313 hp. This achieves a combined fuel consumption of 3.4 - 3.3 litres per 100 kilometres and a combined electricity consumption of 15.4 - 15.3 kWh over the same distance. With 250 Nm of torque available on tap from standstill, this car can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds. The vehicle has a range of up to 31 kms purely in all-electric mode when the high-voltage battery is fully charged.

    March 16, 2015: In order to add fresh feel to its Chevrolet Captiva SUV, General Motors India, today launched the 2015 model of the premium Sports Utility Vehicle at Rs 25.13 lac. The car comes with manual transmission while the automatic transmission model is priced at Rs 27.36 Lac. Like the previous model, the SUV will offer both 4x2 and 4x4 (AWD) driving modes. Under the hood, the car is powered by the tried and test 2.2-litre diesel engine which gives an impressive output of 186.5bhp at 3,800rpm and torque of 400Nm at 2,000rpm. The engine is either mated to 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic gearbox in the All Wheel Drive (AWD) model.
