May 10, 2014: Suzuki Swift gets an upgrade in UK and we can expect the similar changes in India too. Swift 2014 is expected to come with LED DRLs (Daytime Running Lights). A gear-shift indicator has now been added to help aid fuel efficiency as well as Tyre Pressure Monitor System (TPMS) for added driver safety in the model unveiled in UK. July 15, 2014: Volkswagen India has finally launched the much-awaited 2014 Polo facelift in India with a starting price of Rs 4.99 lakh. Following the showcasing at the Geneva Motor Show, the manufacturer has finally refreshed its premium hatch after its Indian debut about five years back. The car comes with an engine option of 1.2 MPi in petrol model and 1.5 TDI in diesel model. The automaker will launch the GT variants at the end of this month. Volkswagen Polo now sports Airbags as a standard feature while the ABS is available in all the models except the base variant.
July 28, 2014: Maruti Suzuki, the leading passenger car manufacturer in India is now looking forward to increase the production of its Celerio. The hatch is reportedly attracting a waiting period of four months and by increasing its production to 6,500 units a month from the present 4,500, the automaker is clearly on way to cut short the piling waiting period. Last month, the company also launched a CNG variant with a price tag of Rs 4,68,517 (Ex-showroom, Delhi). However, the CNG factory kit is available only in VXI trim. The cherished 1.0-litre KNext engine mated five-speed manual transmission produces maximum power of 57bhp while the petrol version provides 67bhp - CNG is clearly underpowered by 10bhp! Absence of automated manual transmission in the Green model is compensated intelligently with the Gas Port Injection or i-GPI system that provides fuel economy of 31.79km/kg.
July 2, 2014: Hyundai has launched the LPG variant of its Grand i10 hatch at Rs 4.96 lakh (Ex-Showroom, Delhi). The LPG model is launched in the Magna trim and carries a 3 cylinder, 1.0-litre engine. The hatch develops a power in the range of 66bhp and peak torque of 92 Nm. The car will get all the bell and whistles of Magna trim such as key less entry and front fog lamps, body Hyundai Grand i10 1.0 Kappa LPG Magnacolored ORVM and door handles. The engine is mated to five speed manual transmission.

May 7, 2014 : Toyota Kirloskar launched the New Etios Cross with base variant Etios Cross G priced at Rs 5,76,000/- (ex showroom Delhi) . July 26, 2014: The India bound next generation Ford Figo has been launched by Ford Brazil, while the Indian launch is slated early next year. May 6, 2014: Honda has recalled 15,623 units of non-ABS variants of Brio that were manufactured from February 28, 2013 to January 16, 2014. The motive behind this recall is to examine and correct the faulty proportioning valve which is responsible for distributing pressure to the wheels. Customers can get their Brio checked for free by enrolling their 17-character alpha-numeric Vehicle Identification Numbers (VIN) on the company's website. Also, the customers will be contacted individually. The faulty parts, if found will then be replaced at the Honda dealerships for free of cost across the country.

May 13, 2014: India's legendary car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki has accomplished another milestone in the history of Indian automobiles by rolling out 25,00,00 ALTOs on the road. Alto K10, a revised form of the original Alto takes on the A segment with its advance features and design - bringing life to the original Alto launched in 2000. The new K series 998cc petrol motor witnesses improvement in efficiency and churns maximum power of 67bhp and peak torque of 90Nm at 3500rpm. The company is also planning to incorporate Alto K10 with automated-manual transmission (AMT) that will serve as a trump card to reach new milestones in future.

June 14, 2014: With piling stock and to manufacture upcoming festive season editions, Tata motors have temporarily haulted the production of their cherished model, Tata Nano at Sanand plant. As per the official words from company, they are retooling the facility to produce the festive season special Nano. Earlier, a revamped version of Nano was showcased at the Indian Auto Expo 2014, held at Delhi. The restyled Nano comes with an openable boot lid. It features an automatic-manual transmission, the F-Tronic gearbox. With changes in style and appearance, the model comes with revamped bumpers, round fog lamps, new black grill and tweaked headlamps. This updated version will also come in a diesel variant.

May 20, 2014: Renault has silently updated its premium hatch Pulse. The change is mainly concerned with the interior part of the car. The hatch is given a revised dashboard and piano black central console along with the new double din audio unit from the Micra, featuring USB, Aux-in and Bluetooth connectivity. The circular shaped AC is now replaced by the rectangular one and a new upholstery is embraced to make the vehicle look like more premium. The Pulse also gets a new color – Cosmos Blue. From exterior the grille gets a submissive change and rest is same as that of the present one. Mechanically, the car will continue to house the K9K turbo charged (fixed geometry turbo charger) diesel mill that churns out maximum power 63.12bhp at 4000rpm and 160Nm of peak torque at 2000rpm. June 24, 2014: Mercedes Benz has launched a limited edition of A Class christened as Edition 1 with a price tag of INR 26.1 lakh. The changes in the Edition 1 is majorly stylistic. September 3, 2013: BMW India has finally launched the much-awaited 1 Series in India for Rs. 20.90 lakh . It is the cheapest offering by BMW in the Indian car market and will directly compete against the recently launched Mercedes-Benz A-Class. May 20, 2013: Skoda India has now decided to phase out its flagship hatchback Fabia from its Indian line-up, which was the only hatchback the company had in its portfolio here. Despite being a potent product, the Fabia failed to attract many buyers, due to its high pricing and not-so-good after-sale service network. The car's annual sales hit a five year low of 3,343 units in FY13. Only 2,200 units of Fabia hatchback will be produced and sold in India, the production will stop by August 31.

18 March, 2013 : Mahindra & Mahindra has launched the company's first 0 emissions electric vehicle in the form of the e20 (ee two oh) in Delhi with an on-road price tag of Rs. 5.96 lakh. The Mahindra e2o utilises Lithium ion batteries and offers a 100 km drive range to its owner which is a very feasible distance for urban use. In terms of recharging, the electric car can be re-charged through any 15 amp plug point along with the Sun2Car option that utilises solar power technology. While the e2o does not have active competition in the market, the upcoming Nissan Leaf may be able to give it a run for its money. Additionally, vehicles like Hyundai i10, Maruti Ritz and Swift will also offer competition to the e2o as they are a part of the growing B segment hatchback portfolio.

14-Jun-2013: The highly acclaimed luxury car maker from Sweden, Volvo Car Corporation has launched their stylish crossover, Volvo V40 for the Indian populace. This wonderful cross country vehicle has been launched at a price of Rs. 28.50 lakh (ex-showroom New Delhi) and will be available at all the Volvo dealerships across the country. This Volvo V40 is equipped with a power packed 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel mill, which can displace close to 1984cc and has the capacity to churn out an incredible 150bhp in combination with a pounding maximum torque output of 350Nm, which is rather excellent. The company claims that this crossover has the ability to generate a healthy mileage of 16.80 Kmpl, which has also been certified by ARAI. This performance packed diesel engine is skilfully mated with a six speed automatic transmission gear box. The company has loaded this new Volvo V40 crossover with a long list of comfort and safety aspects, which will certainly lure the customers into buying it. With the launch of this new crossover, the company will certainly increase their foot hold in the profitable Indian car market.
June 5, 2013: India's leading SUV maker, Mahindra & Mahindra has today launched the Verito Vibe notchback in India, which will rival against the likes of Ford Figo, Maruti Suzuki Swift, Chevy Beat and others. Launched only in diesel version, the Verito Vibe has three variants- D2, D4 & D6, priced at Rs 5.63 lakh, 5.89 lakh and 6.49 lakh respectively (Prices are ex-showroom Mumbai without Octroi) . The Verito Vibe has all the advanced features like ABS, driver airbag, alloy wheels and rear defogging. While the top-end variant Verito Vibe D6 also gets integrated music system with USB and AUX Input. The Verito Vibe has been made available in a total seven colour- Fiery Black, Java Brown, Mist Silver, Toreador Red, Dolphin Grey, Diamond White and Aqua Rush. The Verito Vibe promises to return the mileage of 20.8kmpl.
May 8, 2013: BMW India that started the local production of Mini Countryman in India at its plant near Chennai, has now launched the diesel version of the car called the Countryman D. The company has rolled out two diesel versions- the Countryman and Countryman high, priced at Rs. 25.60 lakh and Rs. 28.9 lakh respectively (ex-showroom, Mumbai). Countryman Diesel becomes the first Mini model to have a diesel engine. The car will be brought in India via CKD and then assembled locally. The local assembly of the car has helped BMW to price the vehicle quite competitive.
