    22 March, 2013 : Japanese automaker, Suzuki has long prided itself in releasing the Suzuki Swift , a car that has sold more than 30 lakh units globally, since its inception in 2004. India accounts for about 45 per cent of these sales, where the MSI Swift is one of the most popular hatchbacks in its segment. And now, to celebrate this sales milestone, MSI has launched a limited edition Swift, dubbed Maruti Swift Star. The new Swift Star has undergone the scalpel and come out with interior and exterior changes including a double-DIN stereo with Bluetooh, a rear roof spoiler, steering wheel cover, art leather seat covers and designer floor mats. The company has offered all these features for an extra Rs. 23,000, which is quite a good deal. Mechanically, the car has undergone no change.

  • Hyundai i20

    28th-Mar-2012: Hyundai India has finally slipped in the next generation Hyundai i20 priced at Rs 4.73 lakh . The i-Gen i20, available in 12 variants comes in both petrol and diesel variants. The i20 petrol variants range from Rs 4.73 lakh to Rs 6.65 lakh; the diesel variants range from Rs 5.96 lakh to Rs 7.44 lakh and the automatic variant is priced at Rs 7.67 lakh. A new refined 1.2 Kappa petrol engine with Dual VTVT mechanism is seen on-board now which delivers 84 Ps of peak power. The diesel variants now are affixed with fresh 1.4 litre CRDi diesel engine with 6-speed manual transmission. The automatic petrol variant Hyundai i20 Sportz delivers 100 Ps power and 13.9 kg-m of torque. Rear Parking Camera with display in the cabin mirror, Electro Chromic Mirror, Clean Air-Cluster  ionizer, Auto Headlight Control Function, 6 Airbags, Rear Disc Brakes, Supervision Cluster and Rain Sensing Wipers are the segment first features debuted in 2012 Hyundai i20.

According to a report published on CarWale, dealers are offering owners the chance to get the Start-Stop and security systems installed in their Figo. The offer is available for all Figo variants with the exception of the base model. This offer comes as a package and therefore owners cannot opt for one and not the other. The dealers are offering this scheme for Rs. 30,000.

    April 23, 2013: India's largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki India is now planning to launch an all new WagonR Stingray, a premium version of the car, which will be positioned above the regular WagonR models. Japanese auto major already sells Stingray variant in Japan, which was launched last year there. Since the WagonR Stingray version is an upmarket product of the car, so it will have better fitments and improved features than the regular WagonR sold in India.

    19 December 2012 : It has barely been 2 months since Maruti Alto 800 stepped out of its production facility into the real world of wheels and wagons, and the car has already reached the staggering mark of 50,000 in sales. Successfully registering 23,550 bookings in the sole month of November itself, the figures for this small car were much higher than many of its rivals' numbers put together. But that's hardly anything new for MSI.

    07 February, 2013 : Honda Car India recently launched the automatic Honda Brio a few days back and is now all set to launch the top end Brio hatchback in the VX trim. This move from Honda comes as a response to customer feedback that demanded more features in the car. Therefore the company has decided to add some extra features that include driver seat height adjustment and a rear de-fogger. As this is a simple upgrade, the cars technical specs will remain the same with the 1.2-litre i-VTEC engine that produces 88bhp along with 110Nm of peak torque.

  • Chevrolet Beat

    30th-Jan-2012 : New Chevrolet Beat diesel is now accorded the title of ‘Most fuel efficient car’ by delivering 25.44 kmpl, thus surpassing the Tata Indica eV2  which was until now claimed to be the small car associated with highest mileage of 25 kmpl in the country. The body International Center for Automotive Testing (ICAT) has acknowledged Beat diesel as the most fuel efficient car in India after the auto major has endowed the car with a minor engine overhaul to see such a huge improvement in the mileage numbers from the original 24 kmpl to 25.44 kmpl. It is more or less the similar case as seen with Tata Indica eV2 which was later introduced with a similar improvement in the 1.4 L diesel engine to emerge out to be the most fuel efficient car. Earlier, Chevrolet India raised the price of Beat Diesel by Rs 50,000.

    April 17 2013: The facelifted Nissan Micra hatchback has been spotted in Pune during its test Mule. The spotted car is partly covered with black camouflage on the front and rear fascia. Nissan has recently unveiled the new Micra in Thailand, and it is also expected to be launched in India. The newly formulated front fascia of new Micra looks aggressive and sporty. The front fascia comes equipped with a new air dam, more masculine front bumper, new grille and redesigned headlights. The rear too get some updates, now have a redesigned rear bumper, new set of tail lamps, and rear spoiler. However, the side profile of the 2013 Micra appears similar to the current-generation Micra. The 2013 Nissan Micra is expected to house the same 1.2-litre and the 1.5-litre K9K turbo diesel engines. The engine is likely to get a new CVT box, which is also available in the company's flagship sedan Sunny.

    26 February, 2013 : Japanese automaker, Suzuki Motor Corporation is promising to launch a new version of the Alto Eco (known as Maruti Suzuki A-Star in India), that will hand out a mileage of 33kmpl; an improvement over the mileage of its current version and also higher than Toyota Prius  hybrid's claimed 32.6 kmpl. The company plans to launch the Alto Eco on the 4th of March, 2013 globally.

    25 March, 2013 : Tata Nano was originally intended to be a big game changer for Tata Motors but failed due to several mistakes by the company in terms of marketing and sales strategy. However, Tata has long been planning to overcome these mistakes and set the record right by introducing diesel and CNG versions of the world's cheapest car. In keeping with this promise, we have seen several spyshots of the Tata Nano diesel being tested and the latest among these show on e being tested in Bangalore. The vehicle did not have any tags or stickers suggesting it may be a diesel version, however the person who took the shots claims that the car was emitting diesel-like engine noises. The Tata Nano diesel is expected to come with a sub- 1.0-litre diesel mill and a new exhaust arrangement for improved mileage. The Tata Nano diesel is expected to offer a mileage of around 35kmpl and should be priced in the area of Rs. 2.5-3 lakh.

    28 January, 2013 : Tata Motors today launched the Indica Vista D90 at an ex-showroom price of Rs. 5.99 lakh. The Vista D90 houses the 90hp version of the 1.3-litre Quadrajet engine and also features a change in the instrument binnacle location, which has been moved from the center to the front of the driver. Additionally, The Indica Vista D90 will also be available in the ZX+ version which is basically a more sporty version of the car featuring the likes of touchscreen stream with satellite navigation, automatic climate control, spoiler and contrast colour roof, an optional body kit, which has a different bumper and also side skirts. Engineers at Tata Motors have also tweaked the suspension, making it stiffer for sportier driving dynamics. The ZX+ trim is on offer with a price tag of Rs. 6.83 lakh (Ex-Showroom, Delhi).

    16 March, 2013 : Chevrolet India has launched a new variant in the Chevrolet Sail UV-A diesel line-up with a price tag of Rs. 5.29 lakh, making this the new base variant of the range.     May 20, 2013: Skoda India has now decided to phase out its flagship hatchback Fabia from its Indian line-up, which was the only hatchback the company had in its portfolio here. Despite being a potent product, the Fabia failed to attract many buyers, due to its high pricing and not-so-good after-sale service network. The car's annual sales hit a five year low of 3,343 units in FY13. Only 2,200 units of Fabia hatchback will be produced and sold in India, the production will stop by August 31.

    May 8, 2013: BMW India that started the local production of Mini Countryman in India at its plant near Chennai, has now launched the diesel version of the car called the Countryman D. The company has rolled out two diesel versions- the Countryman and Countryman high, priced at Rs. 25.60 lakh and Rs. 28.9 lakh respectively (ex-showroom, Mumbai). Countryman Diesel becomes the first Mini model to have a diesel engine. The car will be brought in India via CKD and then assembled locally. The local assembly of the car has helped BMW to price the vehicle quite competitive.

    August 13, 2010: The people's passenger car company of the country, Maruti Suzuki India has unveiled the much-awaited alternative fuel operated Maruti Zen Estilo in New Delhi today.     18 March, 2013 : Mahindra & Mahindra has launched the company's first 0 emissions electric vehicle in the form of the e20 (ee two oh) in Delhi with an on-road price tag of Rs. 5.96 lakh. The Mahindra e2o utilises Lithium ion batteries and offers a 100 km drive range to its owner which is a very feasible distance for urban use. In terms of recharging, the electric car can be re-charged through any 15 amp plug point along with the Sun2Car option that utilises solar power technology. While the e2o does not have active competition in the market, the upcoming Nissan Leaf may be able to give it a run for its money. Additionally, vehicles like Hyundai i10, Maruti Ritz and Swift will also offer competition to the e2o as they are a part of the growing B segment hatchback portfolio.

  • Volkswagen Beetle

    27 July 2012: In order to increase the charm of the already oh-so appealing Beetle, the German auto manufacturer Volkswagen has decided to increase the trims of the Beetle convoy in UK. To keep things balanced both fuel options will be  introduced, in the diesel  fleet a 2.0-litre TDI turbo engine which is capable of producing 138bhp will be brought on board whereas in the petrol line-up a 2.0-litre TSI Turbocharged petrol powertrain which is capable of churning 197bhp will be introduced. Both the engine variants will be available in 6-speed manual or 6-speed dual clutch DSG gearboxes. The 2.0 TDI diesel engine will come with two trims, mid-level Design and top-line Sport trim. The latest generation for the Volkswagen Beetle was revealed at the 2012 Auto Expo India which took place at New Delhi. However, the Indian Bettle lovers will have to wait a while as these variants are launched in UK as of now and Indian launch is not expected in the foreseeable future.
