    June 03 2015 : Maruti Suzuki India Ltd launched the Celerio diesel at Rs 4.65 lac. Named the Celerio DDiS125, this latest offering is now India’s smallest and cheapest diesel car till date. Powered by an all-new indigenously developed 2-cylinder 793cc diesel engine, the Celerio delivers the country’s best-ever fuel efficiency figure of 27.62 kmpl. Mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox, the maximum power output from the engine stands at 47.6 bhp @ 3,500 rpm and the peak torque is rated at 125 Nm @ 2,000 rpm. Instead of a common-rail diesel injection, this new engine boasts a Bosch engine management system that comprises of a fuel injection block, a high-pressure fuel pump and a fuel control unit.

  • Hyundai Elite i20

    June 22, 2015: Hyundai India seems to be riding high on the success of its premium hatch Elite i20. The automaker has achieved a landmark figure of retailing 1,00,000 units of the model in the country. Hyundai launched the next-gen Elite i20 in the month of August and within the short span of 11 months, the carmaker managed to sell one lac units. In the year 2014-15, Elite i20 has been recognized with numerous awards including CarDekho's Premium Hatchback of the Year. Hyundai motors will reportedly equip the top variants of Elite i20 with touchscreen infotainment system with built-in navigation from July. Intentionally or coincidentally, this is the same month in which Elite i20's biggest rival Honda Jazz is making its re-launch in the market and will offer the same. Hyundai is expected to borrow this system from its UK counterpart, there i20 offers a 7-inch touchscreen system with built-in satellite navigation, radio, CD and Bluetooth connectivity.   • Hyundai Grand i10

    February 06, 2015: Hyundai UK has introduced a new ‘Premium SE’ trim to the existing line up of the second generation i10 (the vehicle in India is christened as Grand i10 ). The Premium SE variant is available in both manual and automatic trim, prices starts from £11,995 (approximately Rs. 11.35 lac) for manual and £12,650 (approximately Rs. 11.97 lac) for automatic. Earlier in September 2014, Hyundai India had introduced a ‘SportZ Edition’ of the Grand i10 to celebrate its first anniversary in the country. The Grand i10 was launched in September 2013 and it already has over 1.1 lakh happy owners in India. The Grand ‘SportZ Edition’ gets the 14-inch diamond cut alloy wheels as a standard, the other list of features include bluetooth connectivity, steering mounted audio and leather wrap on steering wheel, rear spoiler, B-Pillar blackout along with body graphics. The interiors too have been upgraded with fabric upholstery and crafted in tones of red. The SportZ is available with both 1.2-litre petrol and 1.1-litre U2 diesel engines.

    March 17, 2015: HMIL has launched its first ever crossover, the Hyundai i20 Active at Rs 6.38 lac (Ex-Showroom, Delhi). The vehicle is based on carmaker's last-year introduced Elite i20, and goes up against the likes of Fiat Avventura, Toyota Etios Cross and Volkswagen Cross Polo.     December 24, 2014: Volkswagen has launched the first-ever petrol version of the Polo BlueMotion , ahead of first UK deliveries in March, with prices starting from £14,730. This model will be powered a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder BlueMotion TSI petrol engine that produces 95 PS of maximum power at 5,000-5,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 118 Nm at 1,500-3,500 rpm. The 1.0-litre engine will be the greenest petrol engine in the range with 94 g/km CO2 emissions and 68.9 mpg fuel economy.     June 17, 2015:  Datsun Go is now been offered with the driver side airbag in the top variant T (O) which is priced at Rs 4.19 lac (Ex-Showroom, New Delhi).  The company has updated the information on its website clearing any doubts and confusion.     June 09, 2015: Tata Motors together with Diesel & Motor Engineering PLC (DIMO) launched its hatchback Bolt in Sri Lanka. This hatchback gets a 1.2-litre Revotron turbo charged petrol engine and a 1.3-litre diesel engine. The petrol engine already has class leading power and torque outputs at 90 PS and 140 Nm respectively in Zest, and with the weight loss in this hatch, it should work to its advantage. The diesel engine puts out 75 PS of maximum power and 190 Nm of peak torque. Both the engines will be coupled to a 5-speed manual transmission.

    April 22, 2015: Nissan's entry-level offering, Micra, was India's biggest model exported in 2014-15 with 76,120 units shipped overseas. It was followed by Hyundai Grand i10 with 63,585 units and the Volkswagen Vento with 56,064 units exported during the tenure. On the whole, India exported 6,22,470 vehicles in 2014-15, posting an increase of 4.42 percent over 2013-14. Hyundai still remains the country's top exporter with 1,91,221 vehicles shipped, followed by Maruti Suzuki at 1,21,701 units, just a tad ahead of this manufacturer, which exported 1,20,331 units.

The luxury hatchback has been launched at the starting price tag of INR 24.75 lacs (ex-showroom, New Delhi). The car is available in total two trims viz. Kinetic (base variant) and D3 R-Design. The latter is priced at INR 27.70 lacs.  The car is powered by the same Cross Country’s D3 turbo diesel engine which produces 147.5bhp and peak torque of 350Nm. This diesel mill is mated to 6-speed automatic transmission gearbox which imparts power to the front wheels.
