July 2, 2013: India's leading carmaker, Maruti Suzuki India has now launched a special edition version of its famous premium hatchback Swift called the “Swift RS ” in the country. To be sold in a limited number, Swift RS will be made available only in VXi (Petrol) and VDi (Diesel) variants with an extra sum of Rs. 24,500. The Swift RS has come up with several styling updates, which gives it a distinct sporty character and looks. It has now been offered with a signature RS 3-piece body kit that includes front and rear bumper enrichment and a roof spoiler. It also gets specifically designed black and blue motorsport inspired graphics, which enhances its sporty quotient. For the first time, black wheel covers are being introduced in the Swift RS. The outside rear view mirrors come in the signature theme colour of blue. The Swift RS is equipped with an illuminated Swift emblem at the sill on all four doors. Inside the cabin as well, it now has art leather black and blue coloured upholstery, which complement the RS signature graphic style on the exteriors. This special edition of Swift has a high-end music system with CD player, AUX-in and USB facility.
November 7, 2013: Hyundai has launched the automatic variant in the Grand i10 line up in petrol fuel trim. The automatic Grand i10 is now available in two trim levels- Sportz and Asta. Former is priced at Rs. 5.95 lakhs, while the latter one costs around Rs. 6.23 Lakhs ( ex. showroom, Mumbai). Both these variants are locked up with a four-speed automatic gearbox. The petrol model is powered by a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder Kappa engine that churns out a maximum power output of 82bhp and 115Nm of top torque. Speculations are rife that Hyundai may also bring an automatic variant in diesel fuel trim too.
28th-Mar-2012: Hyundai India has finally slipped in the next generation Hyundai i20 priced at Rs 4.73 lakh . The i-Gen i20, available in 12 variants comes in both petrol and diesel variants. The i20 petrol variants range from Rs 4.73 lakh to Rs 6.65 lakh; the diesel variants range from Rs 5.96 lakh to Rs 7.44 lakh and the automatic variant is priced at Rs 7.67 lakh. A new refined 1.2 Kappa petrol engine with Dual VTVT mechanism is seen on-board now which delivers 84 Ps of peak power. The diesel variants now are affixed with fresh 1.4 litre CRDi diesel engine with 6-speed manual transmission. The automatic petrol variant Hyundai i20 Sportz delivers 100 Ps power and 13.9 kg-m of torque. Rear Parking Camera with display in the cabin mirror, Electro Chromic Mirror, Clean Air-Cluster ionizer, Auto Headlight Control Function, 6 Airbags, Rear Disc Brakes, Supervision Cluster and Rain Sensing Wipers are the segment first features debuted in 2012 Hyundai i20.

The hatch was launched in the year 2011; the pricing,quality and feature richness are the USP factors of the Hyundai Eon still the hatch could not beat its arch rival Maruti Alto. September 13, 2013:Volkswagen India has now finally rolled out the much anticipated new Polo GT TDI for Rs. 8.08 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), which is now a more powerful version of the car, capable of churning out the maximum power output of 103bhp. Powering the vehicle is a 1.6-litre 4-cylinder turbo-diesel engine, which makes the Polo GT TDI the most powerful diesel hatchback in its segment, in fact better than several entry level sedans being sold in the country. October 7, 2013: To celebrate the first anniversary of Alto 800, Maruti Suzuki India has introduced a special Anniversary Edition of the car at Rs 3.12 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It is basically the Alto 800 LXI variant, on which new features have been added like new body graphics, blacked out B-pillar, new seat upholstery, body coloured side mirror, body side molding and rear parcel tray. The company has also offered a special Purple Haze body colour for the Anniversary edition; also, the company has also offered Audio system as an option.
September 16, 2013: In a bid to keep the sales momentum going for the company's flagship hatchback WagonR, Maruti Suzuki India has now launched 'Madhavan Signature Edition WagonR'. 20 March, 2013 : Ford dealerships pan-India are offering a very tempting scheme on the company flagship hatch, the Ford Figo . According to a report published on CarWale, dealers are offering owners the chance to get the Start-Stop and security systems installed in their Figo. The offer is available for all Figo variants with the exception of the base model. This offer comes as a package and therefore owners cannot opt for one and not the other. The dealers are offering this scheme for Rs. 30,000.
September 24, 2013: Hyundai India has stopped selling the i10 hatch with 1.2-litre Kappa2 petrol engine, that powers the two top end variants of i10 - the Sportz and Asta. The vehicle is now available in two variants - the Era and Magna. These models are powered by the 1.1-litre iRDE engine that churns out maximum output power of 68bhp and 99Nm of peak torque. With the discontinuation of the two top-end models, the automatic transmission option will also be removed from the i10 lineup. The pricing of the top-of-the line i10 models were getting too close to the Grand line up, which has forced the company to take such a decision.
30th-Jan-2012 : New Chevrolet Beat diesel is now accorded the title of ‘Most fuel efficient car’ by delivering 25.44 kmpl, thus surpassing the Tata Indica eV2 which was until now claimed to be the small car associated with highest mileage of 25 kmpl in the country. The body International Center for Automotive Testing (ICAT) has acknowledged Beat diesel as the most fuel efficient car in India after the auto major has endowed the car with a minor engine overhaul to see such a huge improvement in the mileage numbers from the original 24 kmpl to 25.44 kmpl. It is more or less the similar case as seen with Tata Indica eV2 which was later introduced with a similar improvement in the 1.4 L diesel engine to emerge out to be the most fuel efficient car. Earlier, Chevrolet India raised the price of Beat Diesel by Rs 50,000.
September 30, 2013: Maruti Suzuki India has silently introduced the Alto k10 musiK Edition in the Indian car market. It is basically a limited edition vehicle, which is launched to attract buyers and improve the sales during the festive season. The musiK Edition of the Alto K10 comes with 10 additional features. As the name suggests, the vehicle gets more components related to music such as JVC MP3 player with USB and four inch front speakers. The vehicle also gets body graphics, rear spoiler, mud flaps, ambient lighting, new seat covers, steering cover and universal mats. The company hasn't revealed the pricing details of the hatchback, but it is likely to be priced slightly higher than the standard model.

September 30, 2013: Honda India has silently introduced a limited 'Exclusive' edition of its flagship hatchback Brio at Rs. 4.92 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Brio Exclusive edition also marks the 2nd anniversary of the car in the Indian car market. It is available in three different colours- Taffeta White, Alabaster Silver and Rally Red. The special edition comes with a sporty black interior theme with new premium upholstery along with matching Instrument Panel, Interior Trims and Roof Lining. The vehicle also features Door visor, exhaust pipe finisher and illuminated side-step garnish. To make it look more sportier, the Brio 'Exclusive' edition gets a tailgate spoiler.
September 11, 2013: Toyota Kirloskar Motor has now introduced a special edition of its flagship hatchback Etios Liva called the 'Xclusive Edtion' to mark the second anniversary of the Etios' brand in the country. Offered with the additional features on the G Trim, the Liva Exclusive Edition sports rear parking sensor, a bluetooth equipped audio system, premium seat fabric, chrome gear knob and 'Xclusive' badge on the boot-lid. Only 1000 such units of the car will be sold across the country.
August 12, 2013: On the completion of its 15 years in the Indian automotive industry, Hyundai Motors Company has rolled out a 'Celebration Edition' for its flagship hatchback Santro Xing . To be made available for a limited period of time, the Xing Celebration edition has been made available on the GL Plus model for Rs. 3.81 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The new features added to the Celebration Edition of the Xing are new stylish body graphics, chrome garnish at the rear, rear parking sensors with LED display, rear sun blind, Blaupunkt Audio system and new floor mats, which now make the Xing a feature rich car.
November 22, 2013: Tata, country's leading car maker has introduced the CNG model of its popular model Indica in the Indian car market. It has been priced at Rs. 3.99 lakh and goes up to Rs. 4.26 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), for the Indica GLS and GLX models, respectively. The new Indica emax delivers an excellent fuel economy of 23.7km/kg, and it offers an additional range of 230Kms in CNG over 600km in petrol. It features an advanced F-Shift gear box and a new dual path suspension that further enhances the handling and driveability. It is available in 6 cities across India including Delhi, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Tripura.
26 February, 2013 : Japanese automaker, Suzuki Motor Corporation is promising to launch a new version of the Alto Eco (known as Maruti Suzuki A-Star in India), that will hand out a mileage of 33kmpl; an improvement over the mileage of its current version and also higher than Toyota Prius hybrid's claimed 32.6 kmpl. The company plans to launch the Alto Eco on the 4th of March, 2013 globally.
October 8, 2010: Tata Motors has today rolled out the much anticipated Nano emax CNG at a starting price of Rs 2.45 lakh. This is the same car that the company unveiled at Horizonext in Pune earlier this year. The company has launched the vehicle in two trims CX and LX. October 14, 2013: Tata Motors is planning to launch the facelifted Indica Vista hatchback in the Indian car market by the early next year. The vehicle has been spotted testing, and is scheduled to be unveiled at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo. The front fascia of the hatchback seems to be inspired by the Manza hybrid, that was showcased at the 2012 Auto Expo. The car will get a new grille, a new set of headlights and a redesigned front bumper with triangular airdams. The rear end of the car sports an all-new set of headlamps cluster, and the number plate at the rear also fitted on the boot-lid instead of the rear bumper. The 2014 Vista is expected to retain the current engine configurations- a 1.3-litre multi-jet diesel engine and a 1.2-litre petrol engine.
November 19, 2013: Renault India has silently launched a new special edition of the Pulse hatchback, called the Voyage Edition. The exteriors of the new edition looks similar to the standard model. Inside the cabin, the vehicle now features a touchscreen multimedia system that turns up as a navigation device. It also gets audio components from focal and a bespoke Pulse Voyage accessory pack worth Rs. 58,000. With this edition, the company offers a 2 years of free insurance, 2 years of extended warranty and 4 years of roadside assistance. September 3, 2013: BMW India has finally launched the much-awaited 1 Series in India for Rs. 20.90 lakh . It is the cheapest offering by BMW in the Indian car market and will directly compete against the recently launched Mercedes-Benz A-Class. The 1 Series is being made available in both petrol and diesel versions, and will be locally assembled at BMW's Chennai plant. While the petrol 1 Series gets a 136bhp, 1.6-litre 4-cylinder engine that delivers 16.28kmpl, the diesel version has a 143bhp, 2L 4-cylinder engine, offering 20.58kmpl of fuel economy. The BMW 1 Series is available in four variants - 116i petrol, and 118d, 118d Sportline and 118d Sportline Plus. August 13, 2010: The people's passenger car company of the country, Maruti Suzuki India has unveiled the much-awaited alternative fuel operated Maruti Zen Estilo in New Delhi today. August 21, 2013: The much anticipated Maruti Suzuki WagonR Stingray has been finally launched in India at a staring price of Rs 4.10 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Launched in a total three variants- LXi, VXi and VXi (O), it comes at a price range of Rs 4.10-4.67 lakh. 16 March, 2013 : Chevrolet India has launched a new variant in the Chevrolet Sail UV-A diesel line-up with a price tag of Rs. 5.29 lakh, making this the new base variant of the range. The new variant has been titled Chevrolet Sail UV-A PS and features a manually-operated air-conditioner, tilt adjust steering wheel, front power windows, electrically adjustable ORVMs, fabric seats and remote boot opener. Since this is the base variant, features like ABS, EBD, audio system, airbags, rear wiper and defogger have been withheld.
June 11, 2013: Mercedes-Benz India that launched the much anticipated A-Class luxury hatchback in India on 30th May, has already received over 400 bookings for this product. May 20, 2013: Skoda India has now decided to phase out its flagship hatchback Fabia from its Indian line-up, which was the only hatchback the company had in its portfolio here. Despite being a potent product, the Fabia failed to attract many buyers, due to its high pricing and not-so-good after-sale service network. The car's annual sales hit a five year low of 3,343 units in FY13. Only 2,200 units of Fabia hatchback will be produced and sold in India, the production will stop by August 31.

August 22, 2013: The wait for the much anticipated Volkswagen Cross Polo has finally come to an end, as the company has today rolled out the car in the country for Rs 7.75 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) , which makes it about 60,000 costlier than the top-of-the-line Polo Highline diesel variant. Originally based on the Polo Hatchback, the Cross Polo is a sportier and more rugged version of the former. 27 July 2012: In order to increase the charm of the already oh-so appealing Beetle, the German auto manufacturer Volkswagen has decided to increase the trims of the Beetle convoy in UK. To keep things balanced both fuel options will be introduced, in the diesel fleet a 2.0-litre TDI turbo engine which is capable of producing 138bhp will be brought on board whereas in the petrol line-up a 2.0-litre TSI Turbocharged petrol powertrain which is capable of churning 197bhp will be introduced. Both the engine variants will be available in 6-speed manual or 6-speed dual clutch DSG gearboxes. The 2.0 TDI diesel engine will come with two trims, mid-level Design and top-line Sport trim. The latest generation for the Volkswagen Beetle was revealed at the 2012 Auto Expo India which took place at New Delhi. However, the Indian Bettle lovers will have to wait a while as these variants are launched in UK as of now and Indian launch is not expected in the foreseeable future.
14-Jun-2013: The highly acclaimed luxury car maker from Sweden, Volvo Car Corporation has launched their stylish crossover, Volvo V40 for the Indian populace. 18 March, 2013 : Mahindra & Mahindra has launched the company's first 0 emissions electric vehicle in the form of the e20 (ee two oh) in Delhi with an on-road price tag of Rs. 5.96 lakh. The Mahindra e2o utilises Lithium ion batteries and offers a 100 km drive range to its owner which is a very feasible distance for urban use. In terms of recharging, the electric car can be re-charged through any 15 amp plug point along with the Sun2Car option that utilises solar power technology. While the e2o does not have active competition in the market, the upcoming Nissan Leaf may be able to give it a run for its money. Additionally, vehicles like Hyundai i10, Maruti Ritz and Swift will also offer competition to the e2o as they are a part of the growing B segment hatchback portfolio.
June 5, 2013: India's leading SUV maker, Mahindra & Mahindra has today launched the Verito Vibe notchback in India, which will rival against the likes of Ford Figo, Maruti Suzuki Swift, Chevy Beat and others. Launched only in diesel version, the Verito Vibe has three variants- D2, D4 & D6, priced at Rs 5.63 lakh, 5.89 lakh and 6.49 lakh respectively (Prices are ex-showroom Mumbai without Octroi) . The Verito Vibe has all the advanced features like ABS, driver airbag, alloy wheels and rear defogging. While the top-end variant Verito Vibe D6 also gets integrated music system with USB and AUX Input. The Verito Vibe has been made available in a total seven colour- Fiery Black, Java Brown, Mist Silver, Toreador Red, Dolphin Grey, Diamond White and Aqua Rush. The Verito Vibe promises to return the mileage of 20.8kmpl.
May 8, 2013: BMW India that started the local production of Mini Countryman in India at its plant near Chennai, has now launched the diesel version of the car called the Countryman D. The company has rolled out two diesel versions- the Countryman and Countryman high, priced at Rs. 25.60 lakh and Rs. 28.9 lakh respectively (ex-showroom, Mumbai). Countryman Diesel becomes the first Mini model to have a diesel engine. The car will be brought in India via CKD and then assembled locally. The local assembly of the car has helped BMW to price the vehicle quite competitive.
