February 10, 2014: Maruti Suzuki unveiled its Swift Sport, a sportier version of its Swift model at the Auto Expo 2014. Recently launched in Indonesia, it has a more aggressive look with new grille and finned fog-lamp bezels, high-intensity discharge headlamps with a metallic-Grey coating and the newly designed rear combination lamps with a cylindrical design. It comes with a 1.6-litre 4-cylinder mill that renders a maximum power of 100PS at 6900RPM and 160Nm of top torque at 4,400RPM, taking just 8.7 seconds to reach 0-100kmph with a top speed of 193kmph and a 15.625kmpl fuel economy. With the addition of automatic variant in Grand i10's lineup, the contemporary hatch is luring more car enthusiasts. The automatic Grand i10 is now available in two trim levels- Sportz and Asta. Both these variants are locked up with a four-speed automatic gearbox. September 13, 2013:Volkswagen India has now finally rolled out the much anticipated new Polo GT TDI for Rs. 8.08 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), which is now a more powerful version of the car, capable of churning out the maximum power output of 103bhp. September 24, 2013: Hyundai India has stopped selling the i10 hatch with 1.2-litre Kappa2 petrol engine, that powers the two top end variants of i10 - the Sportz and Asta. The vehicle is now available in two variants - the Era and Magna. These models are powered by the 1.1-litre iRDE engine that churns out maximum output power of 68bhp and 99Nm of peak torque. With the discontinuation of the two top-end models, the automatic transmission option will also be removed from the i10 lineup. The pricing of the top-of-the line i10 models were getting too close to the Grand line up, which has forced the company to take such a decision.
September 30, 2013: Maruti Suzuki India has silently introduced the Alto k10 musiK Edition in the Indian car market. It is basically a limited edition vehicle, which is launched to attract buyers and improve the sales during the festive season. The musiK Edition of the Alto K10 comes with 10 additional features. As the name suggests, the vehicle gets more components related to music such as JVC MP3 player with USB and four inch front speakers. The vehicle also gets body graphics, rear spoiler, mud flaps, ambient lighting, new seat covers, steering cover and universal mats. The company hasn't revealed the pricing details of the hatchback, but it is likely to be priced slightly higher than the standard model.
February 5, 2014: The facelifted version of Chevrolet Beat has been introduced at the Indian Auto Expo 2014. Changes can be noticed in its exteriors, including new front bumper, redesigned grille as well as fog lamps, new alloy wheels and revised rear spoiler. The inside of the car has not been changed much, other than few cosmetic updates at the center console, new upholstery seats and central rear height-adjustable headrest. The engine configuration has remained the same - a 1.2-liter petrol (also available with LPG) and a 1.0-liter diesel engine for the respective variants. The petrol engine delivers a top power of 79.4bhp and 108Nm of top torque; the diesel mill belts out a maximum power of 57.6bhp and top torque of 150Nm. Both the engines are mated with a five-speed manual transmission gearbox, which transmits power to front wheels.
September 30, 2013: Honda India has silently introduced a limited 'Exclusive' edition of its flagship hatchback Brio at Rs. 4.92 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Brio Exclusive edition also marks the 2nd anniversary of the car in the Indian car market. It is available in three different colours- Taffeta White, Alabaster Silver and Rally Red. The special edition comes with a sporty black interior theme with new premium upholstery along with matching Instrument Panel, Interior Trims and Roof Lining. January, 10, 2014: Toyota introduces top of the line diesel variants for Etios Liva model. The new grades namely- VD and VD (safety package) features 2-Din audio with Bluetooth, USB, Aux-in and remote, leather wrapped steering wheel with tilt function, ORVM with turn indicators, dual front SRS airbags, tachometer, rear defogger, wiper and several others. Etios Liva comes with both diesel and petrol engines- 1.1-liter petrol and 1.3-liter diesel mill. The petrol engine puts up maximum power output of 80bhp and 104Nm of top torque, while the diesel is capable of producing 67bhp of power and 170Nm of top torque. Moreover, both the engines are mated with five speed manual transmission gearbox.

June 11, 2013: Mercedes-Benz India that launched the much anticipated A-Class luxury hatchback in India on 30th May, has already received over 400 bookings for this product. This makes the A-Class the first Mercedes-Benz car to get the highest ever bookings in the shortest time span. Launched both in the petrol and diesel versions, the A-Class has been priced at Rs 22. 73 lakh and Rs 21.93 lakh (prices are ex-showroom, Mumbai) respectively. The A-Class diesel returns the mileage of around 20.07kmpl, while the petrol too impresses with the ARAI claimed mileage of 15.5kmpl.
February 6, 2014: Tata showcased a revamped version of Nano in the Indian Auto Expo 2014, held at Delhi. The restyled Nano comes with an openable boot lid. It features an automatic-manual transmission, the F-Tronic gearbox. September 3, 2013: BMW India has finally launched the much-awaited 1 Series in India for Rs. 20.90 lakh . It is the cheapest offering by BMW in the Indian car market and will directly compete against the recently launched Mercedes-Benz A-Class. The 1 Series is being made available in both petrol and diesel versions, and will be locally assembled at BMW's Chennai plant. November 19, 2013: Renault India has silently launched a new special edition of the Pulse hatchback, called the Voyage Edition. The exteriors of the new edition looks similar to the standard model. November 25, 2013: Fiat India has silently introduced the limited 'Absolute' Edition of its flagship hatchback, Punto in the country. May 20, 2013: Skoda India has now decided to phase out its flagship hatchback Fabia from its Indian line-up, which was the only hatchback the company had in its portfolio here. Despite being a potent product, the Fabia failed to attract many buyers, due to its high pricing and not-so-good after-sale service network. The car's annual sales hit a five year low of 3,343 units in FY13. Only 2,200 units of Fabia hatchback will be produced and sold in India, the production will stop by August 31.
August 22, 2013: The wait for the much anticipated Volkswagen Cross Polo has finally come to an end, as the company has today rolled out the car in the country for Rs 7.75 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) , which makes it about 60,000 costlier than the top-of-the-line Polo Highline diesel variant. Originally based on the Polo Hatchback, the Cross Polo is a sportier and more rugged version of the former. 18 March, 2013 : Mahindra & Mahindra has launched the company's first 0 emissions electric vehicle in the form of the e20 (ee two oh) in Delhi with an on-road price tag of Rs. 5.96 lakh. The Mahindra e2o utilises Lithium ion batteries and offers a 100 km drive range to its owner which is a very feasible distance for urban use. In terms of recharging, the electric car can be re-charged through any 15 amp plug point along with the Sun2Car option that utilises solar power technology. While the e2o does not have active competition in the market, the upcoming Nissan Leaf may be able to give it a run for its money. Additionally, vehicles like Hyundai i10, Maruti Ritz and Swift will also offer competition to the e2o as they are a part of the growing B segment hatchback portfolio.
June 5, 2013: India's leading SUV maker, Mahindra & Mahindra has today launched the Verito Vibe notchback in India, which will rival against the likes of Ford Figo, Maruti Suzuki Swift, Chevy Beat and others. Launched only in diesel version, the Verito Vibe has three variants- D2, D4 & D6, priced at Rs 5.63 lakh, 5.89 lakh and 6.49 lakh respectively (Prices are ex-showroom Mumbai without Octroi) . The Verito Vibe has all the advanced features like ABS, driver airbag, alloy wheels and rear defogging. While the top-end variant Verito Vibe D6 also gets integrated music system with USB and AUX Input. The Verito Vibe has been made available in a total seven colour- Fiery Black, Java Brown, Mist Silver, Toreador Red, Dolphin Grey, Diamond White and Aqua Rush. The Verito Vibe promises to return the mileage of 20.8kmpl.
May 8, 2013: BMW India that started the local production of Mini Countryman in India at its plant near Chennai, has now launched the diesel version of the car called the Countryman D. The company has rolled out two diesel versions- the Countryman and Countryman high, priced at Rs. 25.60 lakh and Rs. 28.9 lakh respectively (ex-showroom, Mumbai). Countryman Diesel becomes the first Mini model to have a diesel engine. The car will be brought in India via CKD and then assembled locally. The local assembly of the car has helped BMW to price the vehicle quite competitive.
