    May 28, 2015: A test mule of the Swift Dzire AMT has been spotted. This puts it in direct competition with the Tata Zest XTA. The spotted vehicle is a top-spec ZDi (diesel) version. Maruti is expected to carry-over the existing diesel engine from the current Dzire - a 1.3l DDiS unit. Power figures should remain unchanged at 75bhp and 190Nm of torque, however we might see an upswing in the mileage figure of 26.59km/l. The existing Swift Dzire ZDi costs around 7.8 lakh rupees ex-showroom, we can expect the AMT variant to cost anywhere between 8 to 8.25 lakh rupees ex-showroom.

    April 13, 2015: HCIL has launched the new VX(O) variant in its most successful Honda City lineup in both petrol and diesel fuel trim. This new variant is positioned over the existing VX grade and is available in manual transmission. The new VX(O) model features an advanced integrated touchscreen audio visual navigation (AVN), something which was missing in this sedan. The company has also added a new premium color - White Orchid Pearlin in the line-up. Recenlty the latest 4th generation car has become the fastest to achieve 1 lac sales mark in a matter of just 15 months. This sedan have registered 1,01,299 units of cumulative sales since its launch. This vehicle with its 1.5L i-DTEC has enabled the maker to enter the diesel segment and have done fortunes for the company. Notably, Amaze was the first car to get this engine.

    June 09, 2015: Tata Motors together with Diesel & Motor Engineering PLC (DIMO) launched its compact sedan Zest in Sri Lanka. Recently, Tata launched a new top of the line automatic variant at Rs. 8.07 lac (ex-showroom, Delhi). The XTA diesel AMT variant now comes equipped with all the features that were missing in the mid-range XMA variant. The new trim flaunts LED daytime running lights on the exterior front while interiors are also beefed up with Harmon touchscreen infotainment system, reverse parking sensors, automatic climate control and height adjustable driver's seat. Safety is strengthened with dual airbags and rear defogger.

  • Honda Amaze

    April 20, 2015: HCIL has hiked the prices of its compact sedan by Rs 800. The increase in price is in accordance with the tax rationalization in the Budget. Recently, the automaker has launched new Petrol/ CNG bi-fuel version of its compact sedan, christened as Honda Amaze 1.2 S MT Plus. Priced at INR 6.54 Lacs (including CNG kit installation), the new variant is available from today onwards in the cities where the alternative fuel is on offer. The new variant has been specially tuned to run on CNG, the suspension has been tweaked, and a specially prepared wiring harnesses to ensure high level of quality, has been added.

    June 12, 2015: Ciaz, is expected to get the Fiat’s 1.6-litre multijet diesel which is the same engine that might be offered in the company’s soon to be launched compact crossover S-Cross. This compact SUV from Maruti has been spied a few times along with the 1.6 badge and DDiS tagging. On the other hand, Ciaz is currently being powered by the 1.3 litre 88.8bhp MJD that it uses across its lineup, starting from Swift, Dzire, Ertiga and Ciaz (though, the power figure in Swift and Dzire is 73.94 bhp). It is also heard that Maruti is developing a new homegrown 1.5-litre diesel that will be based on two 793 cc, 2-cylinder engine that we are seeing in the lately launched Celerio Diesel.

    February 18, 2015 : Hyundai has finally launched the new Fluidic 4S Verna at Rs 7.73 lac (Ex-Showroom, Delhi) while the diesel model is priced at Rs 8.94 lac. The 4S (which stands for Style, Safety, Sophistication and Speed) the front fascia features wind shaped grille with twin salted chrome linings, redesigned front bumper and new fog light housings. While the rear gets slightly redesigned tail lamps along with a reworked bumper which now incorporate reflectors at each end finish up the design changes. On the safety front the car offers ABS as standard safety feature while the top variant gets six airbags, rain-sensing wipers and auto headlamps.

    June 23, 2015: Volkswagen India launches the Vento facelift at Rs 7.70 lac (Ex-Showroom, Mumbai). Updates are mostly in the form of cosmetic with biggest change seen on the front profile. The sedan now gets new three-slat chrome grille taken from the 2015 Jetta facelift and new Passat. Apart from getting a new grille, 2015 Vento also gets redesigned bumper featuring the same dual-barrel headlamps from the last update. The front bumper now flaunts a new chrome line and larger air intakes which adds muscularity and sporty character to the overall design. Under the hood, power and specification remains same with increase of 7 percent in the fuel economy. The diesel variant gets 1.5-liter TDI powertrain which gives an output of 103.5 bhp @ 4400 rpm and 250 Nm of peak torque @ 1500-2500 rpm. The engine is mated to a 5-Speed MT and 7-speed DSG automatic.

    April 22, 2015: Toyota has revealed Corolla Altis for the first time outside Japan at the on-going 2015 Auto Shanghai in China. The vehicle will be manufactured by Toyota FAW joint venture and will be launched in the Chinese market by second half of this year. Earlier last week, Axio and Fielder have been awarded top ASV+ (Advanced Safety Vehicle) rating from the JNCAP Preventive Safety Performance Assessment in Japan. The achievement has been attributed in part to the first-ever commercial deployment of the newly developed Safety Sense C collision avoidance support package in the cars. The Preventive Safety Performance Assessment focuses on collision prevention and impact damage reduction capabilities, as well as lane departure detection and warning capabilities.

    March 2, 2015: This March, Toyota Kirloskar Motor India is offering Etios sedan diesel variants with TGA - Toyota’s Genuine Accessories worth Rs. 20,000, in their Holi offer. Earlier in January 2015, this company has announced that its subsidiary Toyota do Brasil LTDA plans to increase annual "Etios " vehicle production at its Sorocaba Plant in São Paulo from 74,000 units to 108,000 units. The increase, which is scheduled to come into effect at the beginning of 2016, is aimed to meet increased demand for the vehicle series in Brazil, and will involve additional investment of around 100 million Brazilian real. When launched in September 2012 in Brazil, the sales of this model series ranged between 2,000 and 3,000 units per month. Thanks to the constant improvements with features such as new seat upholstery, seat height adjusters, new variants such as “Cross” and expansion of network to a total of 54 new dealerships and satellite stores have resulted in increase in sales that have now reached between 6,000 and 7,000 units.

    June 10, 2015: Volkswagen of America has unveiled the 2016 Jetta GLI with the 4-cylinder engine from the Golf GTI. The engine displaces 2.0 litre with a turbocharger thrown in with direct-injection. Power output is 210bhp and it comes with specially tuned sports suspension for better handling. The aggressive front has a honeycomb grille and fog lamps. The rear bumper has been redesigned with new design and diffuser and pair of chrome-tipped exhausts. Other equipment on the SE model includes LED tail-lights, Keyless entry with push-button start, Climatronic automatic dual-zone climate control, sunroof, 6-way power driver seat, rear-view camera, front and rear Park Distance Control, Fender Premium Audio System, rain sensing wipers and automatic headlamps.

    April 30, 2015: Toyota has launched the facelifted Camry and its hybrid derivative at INR 28.80 & INR 31.92 lacs respectively in India. Showcased at last year's Moscow International Motor Show, refreshments on this new model are just the cosmetic ones, while the powertrain has been left unchanged. In terms of exterior changes, the new series gets a redesigned grille with a strip of chrome on top of it, LED-infused headlamps, large air intakes, chrome-surrounded rectangular shaped fog-lamps, new tail lamps and 10-spoke alloy wheels. No changes have been made under the bonnet. The new model series continues to be propelled by the same 2.5-litre petrol engine, good for 160 PS and 213 Nm of peak torque. While in combination with an electric motor for the hybrid version, the max output jumps to 205 PS and peak torque stands at 233 Nm.

This series is offered with both petrol and diesel engine options, right from the beginning, unlike the C-Class.     April 3, 2015: Ford's C-segment sedan is expected to revive its presence with the 6-speed powershift transmission mated to 1.5 Ti-VCT 112PS petrol. The same would be a Dual Clutch Transmission, enabling faster and smoother shifts. This model's petrol and DCT versions were discontinued back in June 2014 after the introduction of the facelift version.     February 25, 2015: Renault India has reportedly put a temporary stop on the production of its Scala sedan and Pulse hatchback, citing low demands of these models in the country. As per the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), the company hasn’t rolled out this model from the facility since 183 units were manufactured in May last year, while the last batch of the Pulse was made in October, accounting for mere 59 units. The company most likely will launch the facelifts for both the models and once the refreshed models will arrive in the market, the production is expected to get back its pace again. This company offers this series with 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engine options, while the Pulse is being offered with a 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel mills.

    May 22, 2015: Fiat has revealed Aegea sedan at the on-going 2015 Istanbul Motor Show in Turkey. Though the Italian automaker has not confirmed that whether this sedan would be the Linea successor or not, but this is most likely to replace Linea. FIAT Chrysler Automobiles promises that Aegea is developed from scratch rather than derived from a hatch. Moreover, it will go on sale from November in Turkey and later in over 40 countries across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Speaking of India, Fiat did not confirm the arrival of Aegea in India but it is expected that this vehicle will replace the slow-selling Linea in the country.
