Renault Witnessed a Growth of 3.2 per cent in Global Sales of 2014

Renault, the French automaker released its yearly sales report of passenger cars and light trucks for the year 2014. The company witnessed a growth of 3.2 per cent as it retailed 27,12,432 vehicles in 2014. The majority of sales came from European region while from the rest of the world, company witnessed a slight drop.

In Europe, the automaker retailed good numbers of Clio and Captur models along with impressive sales of Dacia Sandero and Duster. Contrary to this, the sales of Renault dropped when the car registrations outside Europe fell by 5.9 percent. Where sales in America drop by 10.7 per cent, company witnessed 9.2 per cent decline in Africa, Middle East and India.

In the year 2015, the global auto sector is expected to witness a modest growth of 2 percent compared with the last year. According to Renault, European auto sector may see a growth of 1 per cent to 2 per cent with France remaining stable.

Jerome Stoll, Renault's Executive Committee Member Sales and Marketing, said "We are forecasting an increase in our global volumes, the strengthening of our position in Europe and improvements in our positions on our main emerging markets."

In China, the automaker registered a total of 34,067 units in the year 2014, which is less than expected. By the year 2016, the manufacturer plans to launch its first locally assembled vehicles under the newly created Dongfeng Renault Automotive Company (DRAC), a joint venture with Dongfeng.
