Hot hatch Volkswagen Polo GT TDI diesel spotted, launching soon
German auto major Volkswagen that already has the hot-hatch Polo GT TSI in its line-up, is now planning to roll out the GT TDI diesel version of the car. The car has already been spotted testing in India several times, now a Volkswagen India fan Karan Singh has spotted the vehicle and shared it on a group called 'VW Polo India', which further hints at its near launch. The spotted vehicle wears both the GT and TDI badges.

In terms of design, both the GT TSI and GT TDI look similar, also the seven-speed DSG transmission might also power the GT TDI version. However, there are rumours claiming the vehicle to have a five-speed manual gearbox. The only major difference will be the diesel engine to fitted in the car, which is likely to churn out the maximum power output of 105bhp, making it the most powerful diesel hatchback in the country. We have learned that the GT TDI's launch isn't too far, we could see the vehicle launching in September itself. Few VW dealers have already started taking pre-orders for the car, and according to them it will be priced around Rs. 8.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
The engine to be sported in the car will be a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, turbo diesel motor mated capable of returning the mileage over 21kmpl. So, the Polo GT TDI will be a great option for the buyers looking out for a car that has both good power and mileage.
