As you use a car long enough, it becomes a part of your regular lifestyle. The Punch EV has been just that over the past few months, a part of commutes to office, supermarket trips, short weekend errands, and the occasional Pune–Mumbai run. Having clocked around 2,000km, this little Tata has begun to feel like that ever-reliable pal who's never late and hardly complains.
City Life = Punch Life

Let's be real, Mumbai roads are unforgiving. Between potholes, bumpy flyovers, and the random "surprise" speed breaker, it's hard on car and driver alike. But the Punch EV has been unexpectedly capable of taking it all in its stride.
Even after hours of driving through city traffic at night, the fatigue level remains low. The suspension glides right over bumps, and the cabin insulation keeps most of the city craziness out. Steering is light enough for rapid lane changes and tight U-turns, and that compact footprint makes parking in tight spaces a breeze. It's really one of the most livable cars in the city.
The Range Reality

The range for an EV is always the question, of course. But here's the best part: in real-world driving, the Punch EV comfortably delivers around 250–270km on a charge. My commute is about 40–45 km, so I only need to plug it in once a working week.
Even when I did a Mumbai and back trip, the car comfortably completed one way with approximately 25–30km remaining on the show. You can drive at 90–100kmph without having to worry about the battery declining too quickly. That's a major plus since it makes the Punch EV viable beyond city boundaries
Everyday Comforts That Matter

Features like ventilated seats, auto wipers, and wireless Apple CarPlay sound like luxuries until you’ve used them daily. In Mumbai’s humidity, ventilated seats are a blessing. The 360-degree camera makes narrow lanes easier to deal with, and the sound system is more than decent for a quick jam session in traffic.
Most of all, it all just feels intuitive and easy to use; there isn't too much tech. Even inexperienced EV drivers will find it straightforward to get on with.
Performance You Can Count On

There are three drive modes: Eco, City, and Sport. For most journeys, Eco and City are just fine. In Sport, the response lights up, making highway overtakes enjoyable.
Regen Level 2 has been the perfect balance for me; it provides almost single-pedal driving without abrupt decelerations. The vehicle is smooth and linear, and that on-demand torque never wears off in urban stop-and-go conditions.
The Everyday Niggles

As with any long-term relationship, there are some minor annoyances. The white upholstery is lovely when new, but difficult to keep clean; jeans stains, dust, and crumbs easily leave their mark.
And then the occasional tech glitches, the occasional charging lid error that occurs at random, or the infotainment screen freezing and restarting by itself. They do not occur frequently, but frequently enough to be noticed.
And yes, the cost does make you think, approximately Rs 15.3 lakh on-road for the top-of-the-line variant is steep for a vehicle of this size. But factoring in running expenses and ease, it does make sense in the long term.
Verdict: The Perfect Everyday EV

After 2,000 km, I can firmly say this: the Punch EV seamlessly slots into everyday life. It is simple to drive, comfortable, and frugal, with a range that is sensible for everyday usage.
If you already possess a bigger family vehicle, this is a great second car. And if most of your driving is confined to within the city, it can even be your main one.
Yes, it's not perfect, the upholstery might be more practically designed, the technology better integrated, but the whole package is hassle-free and streamlined.
In short, the Punch EV removes the misery from urban driving. It's silent, comfy, and simply gets on with doing as it's told, day in, day out.
