Innova 2.5 G (Diesel) 8 Seater BSIII Review

Toyota Motor Corporation entered India in 1997 in a joint venture with the Kirloskar group. It is currently the fourth largest car maker in the country after Maruti, Hyundai and Mahindra. The company's current plant is located at Bidadi in Karnataka. Recently, this company has launched the Toyota Innnova facelift in the Indian market. Among the existing trims, the GX and VX trims comes with major changes, while the E and G grade variants remain unchanged. In their portfolio, there is a Toyota Innova 2.5 G (Diesel) 8 Seater BSIII trim , which is powered by a 2.5-litre, 2KD-FTV turbocharged diesel engine that churns out 100bhp of maximum power at 3600rpm and also produces a peak torque of 200Nm in between 1400 to 3400rpm. This vehicle offers a decent mileage of 12.99 Kmpl on the highways and 9.0 Kmpl in the city. The fuel tank of this MPV can store 55 liters of fuel. At the front, this vehicle gets a large radiator grille and front wiper. The interior cabin remains same as the previous model and the list of interior features such as a wooden finished armrest, instrumental panel and PVC seats. The Japanese auto maker blessed this MPV with many safety and comfort features such as a manual air conditioner with heater, an immobilizer, a three spoke power steering, a keyless entry and many more aspects.

Exteriors :

The exterior design of this Toyota Innova 2.5 G (Diesel) 8 Seater BSIII variant remains unchanged. This MPV extends to an overall length of 4585mm, width of 1760mm and an overall height of 1760mm. The wheel base is spacious at 2760mm and it has a minimum turning radius of 5.4 meters and a ground clearance of 176mm along with a kerb weight of 1675Kg. This multi purpose vehicle offers a boot space of 300 liters, which can be further increased by folding the first and second row rear seats. The front fascia is blessed with a black finished radiator grille with three horizontal slats and large head lamps, which further enhances the look of this vehicle. It comes with body colored front bumper, which has a air dam in the center and there is a large front windscreen with a wash and wipe function. The side profile of this MPV is blessed with body colored outside rear view mirrors, which are electrically adjustable and also gets a black colored door handles. The rear end has been blessed with a body colored bumper, a large taillight cluster and many other features. The auto maker is offering this multi purpose vehicle in a total of four exterior shades such as Super white, Silver Mica Metallic, Silky Gold Mica Metallic and a Grey Mica Metallic.

Interiors :

The interiors are quite good and the seats are covered with PVC. This variant has been blessed with a glove box, sun visor each for both driver and co-passenger and manual air conditioner with heater. This interior cabin comes with an urethane covered three spoke steering wheel and gear shift lever knob. This vehicle has been blessed with well designed instrument panel and it is incorporated with a door ajar warning and tripmeter. The dashboard remains same as the existing model and also comes with a wooden finished armrests.

Engine and Performance :

Coming to engine specifications, the auto maker has blessed this trim with a 2.5-litre, Bharat Stage III compliant turbocharged diesel engine that produces a displacement capacity of 2494cc. This engine has been equipped with 16 valves, DOHC, four in-line cylinders that enables it to generates a maximum output power of 100bhp at 3600rpm and also produces a peak torque of 200Nm in between 1400 to 3400rpm. This engine is mated to a five-speed manual transmission gearbox, which is smooth and takes just 17 seconds to reach from 0-100 Kmph . This vehicle can reach a maximum speed of 180 Kmph.

Braking and Handling :

This Toyota Innova 2.5 G (Diesel) 8 Seater BSIII variant is equipped with a good braking mechanism. The front wheels of this MPV are fitted with Ventilated Discs, while the rear wheels are blessed with leading-trailing Drum brakes. This MPV is perfectly balanced with a good suspension system and also comes with a tubeless radial tyres of size R15 205/65 , which have an excellent grip on the wet roads. The front suspension system of this vehicle is double wishbone and the rear has a four link with lateral rod.

Coming to comfort aspects, this trim has been blessed with innovative comfort features, which offers plush luxury inside the cabin.
