Micra 2012-2017 XL Optional Review
Nissan Motor Company, the passenger and sports car manufacturer from Japan has made its mark in Indian auto market with its flagship sedan and hatchback models. It tasted success with its premium hatchback model Nissan Micra in the country. Now this hatch gets mid life revival in the form of cosmetic upgrades, which indeed will help it to gain access to some more domestic markets. This 2013 version of Nissan Micra is made available with 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine option. While there are overall seven variants available in its series of which four variants are diesel powered trims, while the other three are powered with a petrol mill. The Nissan Micra XL Optional trim is the mid range petrol variant that comes at a very reasonable price tag. This mid range trim is available at a price of Rs. 5.42 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), which is competitive. On the other hand, this mid range trim is made available with some exciting set of features inside, which makes you feel like you are in the top end trim. However, major changes have been made to the exteriors of this hatch, which completely changed its appearance. This facelift version will be competing with the likes of Volkswagen Polo, Chevrolet Sail, Maruti Swift among others in the premium hatchback segment.
Exteriors:
This mid range version comes with a new look and completely different front fascia that will steal your heart in the first impression. Its brand new headlight cluster, sporty character bumper, new style radiator grille and new rear LED combination lights will bring a fresh new look to this hatch. Its front facade gets a new style headlight cluster and a bigger radiator grille. Its radiator grille accommodates stylish company logo, which is further complimented by a “V” Shaped chrome strip, which will bring a lot of premium cues to its front. On the bottom, it is fitted with a sporty new body colored bumper that hosts a large air dam with a chrome strip along side its border. Its bumper also gets a provision for installing chrome garnished fog lights. While the side profile of this mid range trim is offered with body colored door handles and rear view mirrors. The rear end of this hatch is equipped with a sporty new body colored bumper and a brand new LED tail lights. Its boot door is fitted with stylish company logo that compliments the entire rear view.
Interiors:
The interiors of this mid range hatch gets some sort of refinements, which makes it more attractive. Its interior cabin received a lot of chrome that gives a premium feel for all the occupants. Its inside door handles gets a chrome finish, while the parking brake also gets chrome indents. Apart from this, its speedometer got a chrome ring finish, which will give a wonderful feel for the passengers. On the other hand, its interior cabin section is offered with set of noticeable features include cup holders, bottle holders, adjustable front and rear head rest and so on . Its inside cabin is spacious and can accommodate at least five passengers, which is great. The company has built this mid range petrol trim with an impressive wheel base of 2450mm that created more roomy legroom space inside. The company also used premium fabric upholstery for covering the seats. Features like passenger side seat back pocket, passengers side vanity mirror, digital clock and luggage lamp has also been offered with this mid range trim, which is exciting.
Engine and Performance:
The facelifted version of Nissan Micra is offered in overall seven variants out of which, Nissan Micra XL Optional is the mid level trim. This variant is powered by a 1.2-litre, three cylinder petrol engine that has the displacing capacity of about 1198cc. This is a high performance engine that can churn out 74.48bhp at 6000rpm and generates a maximum 104Nm of torque output at 4000rpm, which is quite impressive. The power is derived from the engine through a manual transmission gearbox that transmits the power to the front wheels and returns a class leading mileage. The company claims that this premium hatch has the efficiency to return 18.44 Kmpl of superior mileage.
Braking and Handling:
This Nissan Micra facelift version gets the conventional braking system that provides full control over this hatch. The company has equipped its front wheel with a superior ventilated disc brakes while the rear wheels are equipped with a high performance drum braking mechanism. The combination of this ventilated disc and drum braking mechanism is further enhanced by an advanced anti lock braking system along with EBD and brake assist mechanism. Hence, you will be able to get a stress free and tension free driving experience. On the other hand, handling this premium hatch has just got better because of a very responsive electric power assisted rack and pinion steering system. Nissan Micra, which I bought and used last 6 years and I am sharing my experience that Micra was incredible with Body weight and build quality, I ride the same 1,10,000 km and still there is no noise at all. I am using Diesel fuel option variant and still I am getting 23 km per litre mileage. that also very useful for a city and long drive. Now am confused to change my car. I did like to change my Micra. Smooth handling, more space than other cars, Dealer treat you very well and resolve you all queries. For the interior, it is as good as the exteriors. While driving you can feel the power of this hatchback. I have the 2011 model Micra diesel variant top end XV premium model. Superb car in the hatchback segment. Very easy and smooth to handle even on high speeds. I can drive my Micra even for 1000 km. Very comfortable to drive. Once I drove 700 km in a day. The top speed was 154 kmph but it can reach 175 kmph. The car sticks to the road even on high speed up to 130 kmph. No vibration or engine sound inside the car. It feels like a petrol vehicle in pickup. By just pressing the accelerator it keeps on going smoothly without any stress in the engine. At the high speed, the sound may be felt. It feels like more number of gear are required but up to 160 kmph the car goes on smoothly. My Micra has been driven more than 165000 km but still, it's performing like a new vehicle. Pros: 1. Handling. 2. Travel comfort. 3. High speed. 4. Vehicle stability and control in normal speed. 5. Mileage.(18 kmpl - 19 kmpl). But not specified mileage 23.08 kmpl. But its good mileage. 6. Auto AC. 7. Driver Airbag. 8. Came with CD player and speakers. 9. Steering control. 10.
