Micra 2012-2017 XE Review
NMIPL ( Nissan Motor India Private Limited), which is one of the highly acclaimed passenger car manufacturer in the profitable Indian car market has launched the base variant of their new Micra hatchback for the car enthusiasts. This entry level version is called as the Nissan Micra Diesel XE and is launched at a competitive price tag, which will further instigate fierce competition in the already lucrative hatchback segment of the country. This Indian based company is the fully owned ancillary of the Japanese automobile giant, Nissan Motor Company Limited. They have a splendid fleet of vehicles in their model line up and one of them is the adorable hatchback called Nissan Micra. This hatchback series is already prevalent in both petrol and diesel trims for the buyers to choose from. But to further make the competition fierce in the profitable hatchback segment of the country's car market the company has now introduced this base variant as well. This Nissan Micra Diesel XE trim also has the redesigned front and rear with a bold and aggressive stance. Some of the impressive features of this entry level trim include a trendy looking chrome garnished radiator grille, a tilt steering adjustment, an advanced drive computer, a driver air bag for enhanced protection for the driver and many other aspects such as an engine immobilizer, a driver seat belt warning indicator, a proficient air conditioner unit with heater that cools the entire cabin quickly, a glove box to keep some smaller things at hand and many other such aspects, which will certainly be practical and of full utility for the buyers. The company has equipped this Nissan Micra Diesel XE trim with a performance packed 1.5-litre in-line diesel mill, which has a single overhead cam shaft and can displace close to 1461cc, which is quite good. This common rail fuel supply system based mill has the ability to churn out a peak power of 63.1bhp at 4000rpm in combination with a maximum torque of about 160Nm at 2000rpm, which is very good. This diesel mill is skilfully coupled with a smooth and proficient five speed manual transmission gear box. The company claims that this 1.5-litre diesel motor has the capacity to generate a healthy mileage in the range of 18.5 Kmpl within the city limits, while the same will be increased to about 23.08 Kmpl, when driven under standard conditions on the highways. This engine is compliant with the stringent BS IV norms, which ensure lesser emissions and increased fuel efficiency. The dimensions of this Nissan Micra Diesel XE trim are very spacious and it can take in five passengers with ease. The insides are done up lavishly and give a lot of comfort to all the passengers sitting inside it. The suspension and the braking mechanism are well balanced and proficient and will keep the car stable and agile at all times, apart from being under the control of the driver as well.
Exteriors:
This newly launched Nissan Micra Diesel XE base version has sleek and stylish exteriors. The company has retained the same body line as the earlier version, but there has been some massive cosmetic changes to the design outside. The front facade of this entry level trim looks aggressive, with a stylish chrome based grille. This radiator grille has a lot of chrome and a perforated radiator grille with stylish company logo incorporated in the center. This is flanked by a brilliant headlamp cluster, which is incorporated with side turn indicators as well. Below this is the body colored bumper, which has a wide air dam, which helps in cooling th engine faster. The front windshield is laminated and has been equipped with a couple of intermittent wipers. The side profile has black color door handles and external rear view mirrors. The wheel arches have been fitted with 14 inch steel wheels of size 14x5.5J , which are further covered with tubeless radial tyres of size 165/70 R14. The rear end has a wide windscreen with a bright tail lamp cluster and the regular badging of the company on it.
Interiors:
The all new entry level trim has a comfortable seating arrangement and it can take in five passengers with ease. The front and rear head rests are adjustable and this variant also has some storage spaces like cup and bottle holders, a large glove box and many other such options. The interior color scheme is refreshing and the seats are covered with plush fabric upholstery. The leg room, head and shoulder space is quite pertinent for all the occupants and ensures a comfortable driving experience.
Engine:
The company has equipped this Nissan Micra Diesel XE entry level trim with a performance packed engine, which is very efficient and reliable. This 1.5-litre K9K diesel mill has a SOHC (single over head camshaft) and has the capacity to displace 1461cc. This engine has been equipped with a common rail fuel supply system along with four cylinders and . This diesel mill has the ability to churn out a maximum power output of 62.72bhp at 4000rpm in combination with a peak torque output of 160Nm at 2000rpm, which is quite good. This engine has been skilfully mated with a smooth 5-Speed manual transmission gear box for simplified gear shifts.
Braking and Handling:
This entry level diesel engine based trim has a smooth power steering, which is very responsive and so are the brakes, which make driving a lot simpler and pleasurable. The front wheels have been fitted with ventilated disc brakes, while the rear wheels have been equipped with powerful drum brakes. On the other hand the robust suspension system of this hatchback is quite sturdy. The front suspension comprises of McPherson strut, while the rear end has a torsion beam that keeps the vehicle steady even in bad road conditions.
Comfort Features:
This Nissan Micra Diesel XE is the entry level trim and has been equipped with a manual air conditioner unit, which also has a heater. Then there is a drive computer, a power steering that can be tilt adjustable, a tachometer and many other such aspects, which enhances the safety quotient of this hatchback.

- Nissan Micra XV Premium Diesel
I have the 2011 model Micra diesel variant top end XV premium model. Superb car in the hatchback segment. Very easy and smooth to handle even on high speeds. I can drive my Micra even for 1000 km. Very comfortable to drive. Once I drove 700 km in a day. The top speed was 154 kmph but it can reach 175 kmph. The car sticks to the road even on high speed up to 130 kmph. No vibration or engine sound inside the car. It feels like a petrol vehicle in pickup. By just pressing the accelerator it keeps on going smoothly without any stress in the engine. At the high speed, the sound may be felt. It feels like more number of gear are required but up to 160 kmph the car goes on smoothly.
