E Verito D2 Review

The Mahindra eVerito takes a traditional diesel powered sedan, and turns it into a zero-emission family car at an affordable price. Launched in June 2016, the eVerito is available in 3 variants, i.e. D2, D4 and D6, all priced very close to each other. The eVerito D2 is the base variant and is offered at a price of Rs 9.5 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi, as of May 6, 2017).

Since this is a base variant, it does not come heavily equipped. On the exterior, the bumpers, wing mirrors and door handles are all body coloured and you get 14-inch steel wheels. The side body cladding, though, is painted black. The safety kit is consistent throughout the range, and while all variants get a digital immobilizer, auto door locks and height-adjustable seatbelts, airbags and ABS have been given a miss.

Inside, the base grade gets an air-conditioner, power windows, manually adjustable wing mirrors and a rear demister. While its asking price is not cheap, the money you pay is primarily for the e-powertrain, so you do not get so much as a basic radio.

Speaking of the e-powertrain, the eVerito is powered by a 3-phase AC induction motor. With a power output of 30.5kW and a peak torque of 91Nm, the sedan can hit a top speed of 86kmph. Supplying the motor with electricity is a 200Ah lithium-ion battery that needs 8 hours and 45 minutes to reach a 100 per cent charge. With the battery juiced up, the eVerito can manage a travel range of around 110km.

The Mahindra eVerito has no direct rivals, but falls into the same price range as popular executive sedans and compact SUVs.

    Reasonable Electric Car

The Mahindra E Verito is a reasonable electric car that is pragmatic for day to day city use. It has a fair electric scope of as much as 140 kilometers on a solitary season of charge. The E Verito is not difficult to drive and keep up with and has no tailpipe emissions. However, the presentation of this electric vehicle is disappointing and the charging time is very long. The lodge likewise feels a smidgen basic. But at its cost, The E Verito makes a viable electric vehicle for day to day drives around the city.Read More
