Fiesta 1.5 TDCi Trend Review

This Ford Fiesta 1.5 TDCi Trend is the mid range variant in its model line up, which is powered by a 1498cc diesel engine. It has the ability to churn out a maximum power of 89.7bhp in combination with a peak torque of 204Nm. It is mated with a five speed manual transmission gear box. This engine is incorporated with a turbo diesel common rail injection based fuel supply system, which can generate about 25.01 Kmpl of impressive mileage on the bigger roads. This 2014 version comes with quite a few modifications in its internal cabin as well as exteriors. It looks more appealing with a new sleek bonnet, revamped bumper and chrome plated bold radiator grille. At the same time, the sophisticated internal cabin gets an advanced instrument panel with ice blue illumination, soft touch plastics and contrasting beige fabric for the seats, which gives it an elegant look. Currently, the manufacturer is selling this sedan in quite a few exterior paint options for the buyers to choose from. The list includes Golden Bronze, Diamond White, Panther Black, Moondust Silver, Smoke Grey and Paprika Red with a metallic finish. On the other hand, it is offered with 3-years or 36000 miles warranty, whichever is earlier. At the same time, the customers can also avail an extended warranty at an additional cost from the authorized dealer.

Exteriors:

The company has given this sedan an aerodynamic body structure, which is equipped with a number of striking features. To begin with the side profile, it is designed with body colored B-pillar appliqué, door handles and ORVMs . These external wing mirrors are electrically adjustable and integrated with turn indicator. The neatly carved wheel arches are fitted with a sturdy set of 15 inch steel wheels, which are covered with 195/60 R15 sized tubeless radial tyres. The frontage is designed with a hexagonal radiator grille that has a lot of chrome treatment. This grille is flanked by a well designed headlight cluster that is equipped with twin chambered bright reflector lamps and indicator. Just below this grille, there is a bumper, which is fitted with an air dam for cooling the diesel mill. The sleek bonnet has a few of visible character lines and the large windscreen is equipped with a set of intermittent wipers. On the other hand, the rear end is fitted with a body colored bumper along with a pair of reflectors, an expressive boot lid and a luminous tail light cluster. The windshield has a defogger and a centrally located third high mounted brake light, which adds to the safety aspects of this vehicle. Apart from these, this sedan also comes fitted with body colored rear appliqué and a roof mounted antenna for better reception of FM radio.

Interiors:

The two tone (charcoal black and light earth grey) internal cabin of this variant is complimented by chrome accentuation and gives it a decent look. The comfortable seats are integrated with adjustable head restraints and provide ample leg space to all the passengers. These seats are further covered with fabric upholstery. The smooth dual tone dashboard comes equipped with AC vents , a three spoke power steering wheel, a large glove box and an ice blue illuminated instrument panel. It is incorporated with a number of functions like a digital tripmeter, headlamp-on notification and a door ajar warning lamp, a tachometer, low fuel warning light, driver seat belt notification and many other such functions for the convenience of the driver. Apart from these, it also has some utility based features like a small tray in the center console, front and rear door trims with magazine pockets, cup holders in floor console as well as in rear center arm rest and a 430 litre spacious boot compartment, where we can store a lot of luggage. The company has incorporated this trim with a few styling aspects like a castro silver metallic painted center console and inside door handles along with chrome finished gear shift knob and park brake release button. All these features put together makes this newly launched sedan look refined and captivating.

Engine and Performance:

This variant is packed with a 1.5-litre diesel engine, which can displace 1498cc . It is integrated with two cylinders and eight valves using SOHC valve configuration. This power plant can churn out a maximum power of 89.7bhp at 3750rpm along with a peak torque output of 204Nm between 2000 to 2750rpm. It is coupled with a five speed manual transmission gear box, which allows the sedan to attain a top speed of 160 Kmph. It can accelerate from 0-100 Kmph in close to 12.2 seconds, which is rather decent for this segment.

Braking and Handling:

This Ford Fiesta 1.5 TDCi Trend variant is equipped with robust braking and suspension mechanism. The front wheels are equipped with a set of ventilated disc brakes, while the rear wheels are fitted with self adjusting drum brakes. This braking mechanism is further augmented by ABS along with EBD. On the other hand, the rear axle is assembled with a semi-independent twist beam type of mechanism. It is assisted by twin shock absorbers, which are filled with gas and oil. While, the front axle has been fitted with an independent McPherson strut suspension mechanism along with coil springs and anti roll bars .

Comfort Features:

The company has integrated this mid range variant with quite a few refined aspects, which are footwell lamps, automatic air conditioning system, all four power windows with driver side auto down function, adjustable head restraints , follow me home headlamps, advanced music system, 100% foldable rear seats, electric boot release and driver seat with height adjustable function.
