Fiat India, the fully owned subsidiary of the Italian automaker has officially rolled out the facelifted version of its flagship sedan Fiat Linea. This vehicle is available in three trim levels, which are Active, Dynamic and Emotion among which the Fiat Linea T Jet Active is the base petrol variant. This variant comes equipped with the same old 1.4-litre T-Jet petrol power plant that comes with 1368cc displacement capacity and mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. This facelifted version is all about redesigned cosmetics in terms of both exteriors and interiors. Inside this sedan, it received an improved two tone color scheme with beige and black along with an elegantly designed dashboard. In terms of exteriors, this variant comes with a refurbished radiator grille, elegantly crafted bumper and a revamped rear profile. On the whole, the company has managed to give it a refined look and created a buzz across the automobile market. Currently, the manufacturer is offering this latest sedan in a total of five exterior paint options such as Magnesio Grey, Tuscan Wine, Minimal Grey, Sunbeam Gold, New Pearl White and Hip Hop Black. As far as its features are concerned, the company is offering this base version with several advanced features such as power windows with one touch operation, electrically adjustable ORVMs, programmable Followme headlamps, rain sensing wipers are just to name a few.

Exteriors:

The newly introduced facelift version of Linea comes with a refreshing new look. The company has updated the front and rear profiles of this sedan, while retaining most of the design of the sides. At the rear, this sedan gets a new taillight cluster and a decently crafted boot lid that comes fitted with a thick chrome strip along with company and variant badging. Below this, the bumper gets a two tone look, thanks to the black colored protective cladding fitted under it. The overall new look of the rear end is accentuated by a thick and wide chrome plated strip fitted to the bumper. On the front profile, the headlight cluster has been retained, while the radiator grille gets a re-treatment. The company has fitted its prominent logo in the center of the grille that enhances the elegance of the front. The front bumper gets a major modification with a sleek and wide air dam that also comes with inbuilt fog lamps. In a bid to improve the look of the frontage, the company has fitted two expressive chrome strips to the bumper. The side profile of this sedan remains to be the same as its outgoing model.

Interiors:

The interior section of this Fiat Linea T Jet Active is blessed with a beige and black key color scheme and it is further emphasized by metallic inserts. The company has altered the design of the dashboard along with its central console and the instrumentation panel. Its central console is loaded with features like AC vents, HVAC system and an integrated music system. The instrument cluster features some features like programmed service indicator, digital clock, external temperature display, real time mileage indicator, average speed, traveling time, and mileage calculator. The seats inside this base trim comes with good quality fabric upholstery. For the convenience of the passengers, the company has equipped some features such as cup holders, glove box unit , passenger side vanity mirror, bottle holder and so on.

Engine and Performance:

This entry level variant is equipped with an advanced 1.4-litre Turbojet petrol power plant with a displacement capacity of 1368cc . This engine comprises of 4-cylinders, 16-valves and comes with a dual overhead camshaft valve configuration. In addition to this, the company has blessed this engine with a multipoint fuel injection system that enables the motor to produce a peak power output of about 112.4Bhp at 5000rpm, which results in developing a peak torque output of about 207Nm at just 2200rpm. The manufacturer has skillfully coupled this motor with an advanced 5-speed manual gearbox. This diesel mill takes only about 11.14 seconds to accelerate towards 100 Kmph from a standstill and it can reach a top speed of about 180 Kmph, which is quite good.

Braking and Handling:

Its front wheels have been fitted with high performance ventilated disc brakes, whereas its rear comes fitted with solid disc bakes. In a bid to enhance this braking mechanism, the company is offering anti-lock braking system with electronic brake-force distribution system  as well, which prevents the wheels from locking and improves traction. It has a robust suspension system with its front axle being fitted to an Independent wheel, while its rear axle is equipped to a torsion beam type of system. In addition to this, the company has also fitted double acting telescopic dampers along with helical coil springs and stabilizer bars.

Comfort Features:

The Fiat Linea T Jet Active is the base variant and it comes with some of top rated features. It is equipped with a manually operated AC unit inside with foot level AC vents at the rear. The dashboard is equipped with an instrument panel that provides detailed information to the driver. It also comes with a list of features, which include front and rear power windows with 'delay' and 'auto down' function. Other features include power steering with tilt function, remote key less entry, remote tailgate opening, internal roof light with dimming effect, power adjustable ORVMs  and so on. This trim also comes with an integrated MP3/CD player with 4-speakers and a remote control.

Safety Features:

Coming to the safety aspects, the company is offering this base variant with some of the most important features. The list includes all four disc brakes along with anti-lock braking system, front and rear fog lamps, automatic door lock , double crank prevention system, exact door open indicator and many more. Apart from these, other features include central door locking, fire prevention system, immobilizer system with rolling code and driver seat belt warning light, which are just to name a few.

Cons:  Price tag, low mileage.
