M Series M6 Gran Coupe Review

BMW M series M6 Gran Coupe is one among the variants in the exclusive M series portfolio. This newly revised version comes with some minor updates, primarily to its exteriors. The vehicle gets a mildly modified front grille that gives it a renewed look. The slick headlamps for this version are blessed with adaptive LED lights. Few vehicles have been known to offer utility and comfort as exhaustively as this one does. The sports styled seats come with lumbar support, memory function, an adjustable thigh support, articulated upper backrest and many other comfort elements that completely dissolve strain for the occupant when driving. Further sparing hassle for the driver is an electric park bake with an automatic hold function. An integrated 3 button universal garage door opener is also present for reduced burdens when operating. Like all models of this company, the car's outfit carries a rich luster that adds to its image. Its streamlined shape and well balanced proportions make it ideal for speed on the road as well. It is powered by the same V8 twin-turbo engine that features an electronically controlled engine cooling system. The engine is also harnessed with a brake energy re-generation system, which helps to cut fuel and promote efficiency.

Exteriors:

The vehicle's slender profile is overlapped with a muscular body tone. The brand has slightly modified its front profile to render it a breathtaking new look. It gets a tweaked double-spoke black chrome kidney grille. Flanking this are sleek headlamp clusters that are now updated with LED lighting systems. The wide air intake section at the bottom is surrounded by well designed arches. The aluminum hood has fluidic, curving lines that help to renew the look by the front. By the side, the mirrors come with power folding and heating functions, adding convenience to the driver's ride. The front side wheel fenders are made of thermoplastic material for a stronger design character. Beneath them, the double spoke light alloy wheels enumerate the car's stylish persona. The carbon fibre composite roof panel also improves the vehicle's tough stance. The shadow-line that glazes the bottom of the doors is a mark of the car's visual splendor. At the rear, there are stylish tail lamps that come along with LED systems, turn indicators and all necessary lighting units. The double exhaust pipes at the bottom compliment the car's sporty charisma.

Interiors:

The cabin reflects an air of comfort and utility, while at the same time, giving the passengers a peaceful atmosphere through the drive. The seats, doorsides, front panel and center console have all been arranged for an image of sophistication and grace. The M multi contour seats come with an articulated upper backrest and headrests. For the front row occupants, there is a central armrest for added support. A premium Merino leather upholstery dresses the seat surfaces, the door trims, armrests and the gear shift lever as well. The black carbon fiber trim also magnifies the plush character of the interiors. The driver gets an enhanced drive feel with a 3-spoke leather-wrapped multi-function M sport steering wheel mounted with controls for easier usage. Floormats are present for the purpose of convenience. The split folding rear seats give occupants the benefit of a larger storage capacity at the rear.

Engine and Performance:

This Gran coupe is powered by the same 4.4-litre V8 petrol engine, which has eight cylinders and 32 valves integrated together. The engine is armed with two M twin-scroll turbochargers, along with a variable valves control system. This mill has a displacement of 4395cc. In addition to this, it yields a power of 560bhp at 6000rpm to 7000rpm, coupled with a torque of 680Nm 1500rpm to 5750rpm. The plant's power is transmitted through a 7 speed M dual clutch transmission, that comes along with drivelogic technology. The company has incorporated it through a high precision direct injection, enabling efficient fuel transfer.

Braking and Handling:

The car is equipped with M Carbon ceramic brakes, which ensure optimal traction and a high braking force. Furthermore, it is built with an advanced M chassis and suspension system. The chassis arrangement is strengthened with aluminum front and rear sub-frames. Twin tube gas pressure based shock absorbers also help to keep the ride stable and comfortable.

Comfort Features:

The car offers 3 stage heated front seats, giving an uncompromising experience for the passengers. The automatic 4 zone climate control builds a pleasant environment within the car always. Also present for utility are cup holders by the front seats, a keyless entry with multi function remote control, parking distance control, power windows and a micro filter ventilation system. An iDrive system with an on-board computer and touch-pad controller provides a relieved experience for the driver. Also present for the benefit of the driver is a BMW navigation system that comes with the aid of a 10.2 inch high resolution screen. The Harman Kardon surround sound audio system provides a channel for quality entertainment within the cabin.

Safety Features:

The car is installed with numerous advanced techno aids such as Dynamic Stability Control, Dynamic Traction Control, Dynamic Brake Control and the standard Anti-lock Braking system. An advanced front airbag restraint technology brings protection to the front occupants. In addition to this, there is an interlocking door anchoring system provides shielding in case the car meets a side-ward impact. An impact sensing system cuts off the fuel supply in case of a mishap. The security of the vehicle is reinforced with an anti theft alarm system with a keyhead remote operation and an interior motion detector.

Pros:

1. Stunning outside looks.

2. Lengthy comfort features.

Cons:

1. Lack of updates for the interior poses as a negative.

2. Its price range could deter buyers.

German Beast in my house, the BMW M in my house

I bought this car on September 2018 on my sons birthday. He was very happy and it's been now 7 months of my car, and it has run only 1460 km till now after the first service. it does not need much care and it is straightforward to maintain. The pick up, comfort level and mileage is just above my expectation level. After my second free service my car gave me a better level of driving. I just love my car with its aggressive styling, and always ready to take up on any and every challenge. In case your are planning to buy a new car it's my preferable choice.Read More
