Gurgaon Toll Cancelled for 15 days

After the petition in Punjab and Haryana High Court which stated that the mechanism to collect money was not functioning properly which further led to traffic congestions in that area, no impressive steps were seen to de-congest the long traffic queues at the Delhi-Gurgaon expressway toll plaza. Due to this the Punjab and Haryana high Court directed the concessionaire – Delhi Gurgaon Super Connectivity Limited to restrain the collection of toll fee for next 15 days, starting Tuesday Midnight.

The Government of Haryana also directed to provide for dedicated police personnel so as to ensure security at the plazas. The division bench which comprised of acting chief justice Jasbir Singh and Justice Rakesh Kumar Jain has also directed the NHAI- national highway authority of India to find a solution to these problems on a permanent basis along with the state authorities and concessionaire's representatives.

High Court had earlier as well observed that the Toll barrier was to be designed such as to save both fuel and time but is failing to do either. The Gurgaon Traffic Police had moved to the court with the allegations that the concessionaires were responsible for the chaotic expressways. Further they had also alleged that there was a shortage of manpower but the concessionaires do not want to try and smoothen the traffic but are focused only on collecting money.
