Dream of owning a McLaren but it’s out of your budget? Not any more! McLaren has launched an all-electric version of the iconic hypercar – the P1. What's special about this vehicle is that it is priced at just £375.00 which is roughly Rs 33,000. How’s that possible? Well, the all-electric P1 with an F1-like central driving position and open-roof configuration is built specially for ages six and below, preferably. Like any other McLaren, the focus has remained on performance since the top speed – which is about 5kmph – of this yellow wonder is achieved within just two seconds of pressing the throttle, while the driver enjoys the tunes of 'Hickory Dickory Dock'.

This all-electric McLaren P1 shares a lot of features with the standard P1. Be it the air vents below the headlamps or McLaren’s signature dihedral doors, this mini P1 looks lovely. The car gets a push-button start/stop which also controls the lights and the ‘air-conditioning’ unit. The infotainment system is limited to an MP3 player which comes preloaded with popular nursery rhymes. Also, mated to the electric motor is a three-speed forward transmission with a reverse gear, which will prove helpful if you unintentionally, or even intentionally, hit a stuffed bear.

McLaren has limited the colour options on this electric P1 to just one – 'Volcano Yellow' – so as not to confuse potential customers (up to six years old). This is without a doubt the most compact car ever to wear the McLaren badge. The company says that ‘customers ideally should be between three and six years old to drive it. Although young drivers beyond this age group might also fit’. It will be available from the end of October with selected McLaren Automotive retailers around the world. We surely want to ride one but, unfortunately, we might just be too grown up for this.
