Mahindra has not kept the upcoming Rexton  launch a secret anymore which is likely to happen around Diwali time, this year.  But, the more interesting part is yet to come, which is that Mahindra and Mahindra is on the verge of developing new products with its South Korean susidiary SsangYong Motors. However, the Mahindra-SsangYong products are just conceived and are yet to undergo different phases of production before we can see the launch happening in another 2-3 years from now. Two new platforms are being aggressively developed putting both the brains together at work out of which one platform is meant for India. The consumers in India will have to wait over two years to see even the first SUV being developed together with many more to follow either by synergies or by Mahindra going alone on the same platform to form a base for the future line-up from the domestic utility car manufacturer.

Mahindra Ssangyong Rexton

Ever since the acquisition of the South Korean car manufacturer SsangYong Motors, Mahindra has been riding high on cloud nine with rather unexpected turn of events for good. Not only within an year since the acquisition brought three new products from its subsidiary, which it had proudly displayed at the Auto Expo 2012 leaving the rivals tongue tied in appreciation, they are each on the brink of developing their own products together. Belonging to the premium segment, the Rexton which is still undecided on the branding it’s going to adopt, the upmarket SUV features a 2.7 L diesel powertrain all set to shake the Indian car industry with its prowess.

Another SsangYong product Korando is still a little far from happening anytime soon pushed to 2013 instead, which also features an electric variant, the Korando E. SsangYong already has its established presence in the Europe with our without the help of Mahindra and Mahindra, but the latter hopes to introduce its subsidiary turned ally to gain traction in the markets like Brazil, China and Russia. Mahindra of late is getting more into action than ever before, now that it has a trump card in hand in form of Mahindra XUV500. And not very long from now, the auto major will be removing the barricades stopping the consumers to get their hands over their favourite SUV.
