7th-Dec-2011: Chevrolet Volt, the electric car from Chevrolet has been readied for RHD (Right Hand Drive) markets like UK and Japan. The car will soon be in China also and even India can be one of the future markets for Volt. However, that will take another a few years as the electric car market is not mature enough in India. We could also see a diesel version of the Volt or something smaller, targeted at European and Indian markets, but not so soon. The estimated Chevrolet Volt price will be more than Rs 34 lakh. The electric version will be powered by GM’s unique Voltec propulsion system which consists of a lithium-ion battery pack and electric drive unit coupled together. Moreover, a 1.4-litre petrol engine is also packed in the bonnet so that the driver can easily switch between the two as per requirement.
