KUV100 highlights

Mahindra has confirmed that in about six months time, the KUV100 NXT will also be available with an AMT (automated manual transmission). The same will be coupled with diesel and petrol engines. Moreover, the company is also working towards an electric variant of the hatchback. The emission-free version is expected to launch in 2019. Click here to know more.

The Mahindra KUV100 NXT was recently launched at Rs 4.39 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai). It is the mid-cycle update/facelift model of the KUV100, which was launched in January 2016. Its quirky exterior has been toned down, and it now comes with additional features and the same set of engines with five variants – K2, K2+, K4+, K6+, K8 – to choose from. Check out more details here

Mechanically, the KUV100 NXT carries forward the 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol and diesel engines of the pre-facelift model with the standard 5-speed manual transmission.

With a price range of Rs 4.39 - Rs 7.33 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai), the Mahindra KUV100 NXT largely competes with the Maruti Ignis along with other B-segment hatchbacks such as the Maruti Swift and the Hyundai Grand i10.

Bought the NEW MAHINDRA KUV100 NXT diesel Top Model K8 on 30 OCTOBER 2017. No Car can match the looks, style, features, Price, Performance and Mileage. It has all the SUV looks though only marginally small. It has engine start stop button which is only available on high budgeted cars. You can get Fully loaded model 2 -4 lakhs less than other in market, with six seats a sure benefit for 2 small families going out together. As for mileage in my first week itself the mileage has grown to around 21 ... 27

Mahindra KUV100 review

Mahindra’s never been one to shy away from taking risks. Traditionally known for its SUVs like the Bolero, Scorpio and XUV500, the company marked its entry into the highly-competitive hatchback segment with the KUV100. Competing with the likes of the Hyundai Grand i10, Maruti Ignis and Ford Figo was never going to be a small task but Mahindra owned up to the challenge by giving the hatchback SUV-like styling and a segment-first 6-seater layout. Even so, the car didn’t taste success and less than a year since its introduction, the KUV100 has been updated and renamed to the KUV100 NXT.

Things We Like in KUV100

  • Safety features. All variants get ABS with EBD as standard. Dual front airbags on all variants except the base K2.
  • Feature loaded: Daytime running lights, chilled glovebox, 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with steering mounted controls and ambient lights, etc.
  • Space. Headroom and legroom at the rear are generous.

Things We Don't Like in KUV100

  • Average handling and noise insulation. Competitors like the Grand i10 and Ignis are better in these aspects
  • Not a real 6-seater. Front middle seat is cramped and unsafe to use.
  • Looks. While better than, it may still come across a bit too quirky for some buyers.

Stand Out Features

  • Auto-start stop, i.e., micro-hybrid and eco/power drive modes.

  • Plus-sized and comfortable front armrest

CarDekho Verdict

With the updates, the KUV100 NXT is a more modern and appealing package than before.

"The changes aren't drastic but do enough to make the car a more attractive and value for money proposition."

What's more, it packs in more features throughout the range, yet, the lower variants are actually cheaper than before, while the top two versions only get a marginal price increase.
