Porsche India Delivers the First Panamera Diesel to Kapil Dev
It was a special moment for Anil Reddi, Director of Porsche India, when he handed over the keys of a Panamera Diesel to renowned cricketing legend Kapil Dev on Friday. This occasion marks Porsche India’s first ever delivery of a Panamera Diesel in the country. With the 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine and a basic retail price of just over Rs. 1 Crore (Ex-showroom New Delhi), the Panamera Diesel offers customers a uniquely styled, lavishly equipped and decidedly sportier option in the luxury car segment.

Anil Reddi, who started Porsche India in April this year, said: “The Panamera Diesel sets a benchmark in driving dynamics and comfort. The four-door vehicle is a genuine Porsche through and through paired with excellent efficiency. We are excited that Kapil Dev is the first owner of the Panamera Diesel in India and I am sure he will be thrilled by the new Porsche experience.” With a range in excess of 1,200 kilometres the Panamera Diesel is a good bet as a distinctly economical GT saloon. The long-range cruiser with an impressive turn of speed combines the sporty attributes of Porsche’s Gran Turismo family with typical diesel characteristics such as exemplary fuel economy and immense pulling power.
The three-litre, V6 engine under the Porsche Panamera Diesel’s bonnet is the state-of-the-art in diesel technology and comes with such features as Auto start/stop function, common rail direct injection, turbocharging employing an electrically controlled variable geometry turbocharger (VGT) and emission control achieved by controlled exhaust gas recirculation. Typically for a diesel, 550 Newton metres of rated torque are applied. Twinned with the highly efficient eight-speed Tiptronic S, in-gear acceleration from 80 km/h to 120 km/h of 4.5 seconds can be achieved. The 250 horsepower engine ensures that the Panamera Diesel reaches the 100km/h mark in only 6.8 seconds from a standstill.
It features steel springs as standard. Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) adaptive damper control and adaptive air suspension with additional air volume are available as an option. This makes for a very wide spread of suspension characteristics with further enhancements to ride comfort on the one hand and very sporty driving dynamics on the other.
Talking to media persons during the car’s delivery Kapil Dev said: “I am thrilled to take delivery of my Porsche Panamera and can’t wait to get behind the wheel. This car has a unique personality combining sportiness, luxury and efficiency in one. I am sure it will be an absolute joy to drive on a daily basis.”
