The India based auto giant Mahindra and Mahindra is keen on exhibiting its extended line-up of pick-up models to the farming community and would be using the Nampo Harvest Show for the same which will go on from 15th to 18th May. The models planned by Mahindra for display are the special editions of Scorpio, Genio and Ssangyong models. According to the CEO of the company Mr. Ashok Thakur, Mahindra India has already emerged as a leader in the utility vehicle segment of the Indian car market and the company is now readying to extend its range of SUVs and rugged pick-ups to many members of the South African farming community.
Mr. Thakur also mentioned that the model line-up to be presented to the South African audience has been customized and fitted with value adding equipment so that it appeals to the farming community and the off-roading fans. The Mahindra line-up at the Nampo Harvest Show is expected to beam with 9 models that would include the three adventure versions of Mahindra Scorpio – SUV, SC pick-up and DC pick up which has been developed alongside the LA Sport which is an off-road specialist. The other models include a single-cab Mahindra Bolero, one new Genio pick-up and a couple of special edition models.
Also finding place among the line-up is the new Mahindra Scorpio pick-up which has been altered with help of the magazine Leisure Wheels and also the customized version of Mahindra XUV 500 which was developed along with the Weg/GO! Magazine - both of these are available from LA Sport on special order. Other models being showcased are the Korando and Actyon Sport which are the products of the Mahindra owned Korean auto brand SsangYong. Mr. Thakur also states that the company is delighted that the timing of the harvest show of 2012 is perfect as it will be able to exhibit the Korando SUV and Actyon Sport double cab pick-up; Mahindra SA is also distributing the SsangYong products in the car market of South Africa.
