VinFast VF6

The VinFast VF6 is a compact all-electric SUV that we got to test drive in Vietnam, before its launch in India! It will be locally assembled at the brand’s manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu The VF6 is aimed at buyers looking for a compact but spacious electric SUV with standout styling balanced with a practical cabin.

• The VinFast VF6 follows a youthful and modern design language, with a coupe-like profile and clean surfacing.

• It features a closed-off front grille typical of EVs, complemented by LED headlights and a V-shaped LED DRL that extends into the bonnet, a nod to their logo.

• The rear end sports connected LED tail lamps, a roof-integrated spoiler, and a sporty bumper.

• It also gets aero-styled alloy wheels and a sharp shoulder line for better aerodynamics.

• The VF6 looks especially sporty in bright colours and the Vinfast family look is very distinctive. 

• It doesn’t have the butch appeal some expect from an SUV but it does grab attention easily.

• Inside, the VF6 features a minimalist and tech-oriented dashboard layout with a centrally mounted 12.9-inch touchscreen.

• There is no conventional instrument cluster; all vehicle and drive information is relayed via the central screen.

• It features a large, fixed panoramic glass roof like the Volvo C40 Recharge. 

• While heat insulation wasn’t an issue in our experience, the sunroof does need a sunshade for when you need sunlight cut-off completely.

• The cabin uses light-coloured leather upholstery with soft-touch materials to give it a premium feel.

• The steering is a two-spoke flat-bottom unit with integrated controls, while the gear selector is button-operated.

• It offers decent space for five passengers, with a flat floor enhancing rear seat comfort.

• There is adequate legroom for a 6ft tall user to sit behind their own position and even with the coupe-like roofline, headroom at the rear is good.

Features

• A 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with integrated Google apps and voice assistant is the highlight.

• It gets an 8-way powered driver’s seat and ventilated front seats (for both driver and passenger).

• Other features include wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, dual-zone climate control, an auto-dimming IRVM, and ambient lighting.

• The VF6 also supports over-the-air (OTA) updates and connected car technology.

• Other convenience features include keyless entry and push-button start, rain-sensing wipers, a 360-degree surround view camera system, and remote functions via smartphone.

• Safety features on the VF6 include up to 7 airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, and front and rear parking sensors.

• The compact electric SUV also gets ADAS Level-2 features such as adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, forward collision warning and others.

• These features place it among the more safety feature-loaded offerings in the compact EV segment.

• The VF6 offers 423 litres of boot space with all seats up, expandable by folding down the rear seats.

• The flat loading lip and wide boot opening make it practical for daily use, plus occasional trips on the highway.

• Internationally, the VF6 is available in two variants: Eco and Plus, both powered by a single front-mounted electric motor.

• Here’s a look at the key specifications:

• The Eco variant is more range-focused, while the Plus trim delivers better performance.

• Fast-charging capability is also expected, with an estimated 20-80 percent charging in around 30 minutes using a DC fast charger.

• The VinFast VF6 will be assembled at the company’s upcoming Tamil Nadu facility.

• It will be launched alongside the VF7, which will then be followed by VF3, which is slated for 2026 as part of VinFast’s three-model India debut.

• Prices are expected to be around Rs 25 lakh. Detailed variant-wise feature lists will be revealed closer to launch.
