Petrol - Buy for safety and ride quality

I live in Bengaluru and work in Manyata tech park. My usage of car is only on weekend so i was clear that i need petrol car. And my trips on weekend with my friends or family is quite often so i wanted a car which thinks of my safety. Car is emotion to me and many others so for that reason i needed a car which suits my character. Based on this i had shortlisted Ford Ecosport and Tata Nexon. Looks: Funky!! That came to my mind when i saw the red nexon. Those 16" inch tyres, big wheel arches, wide grill (like a smile) were too catchy for me. And the build quality is simply the best and high point in Nexon, i can compare this with any German cars. Plus there is ceramic-like white running across the car below the window and also across the fog lamp look good on red Nexon. I didn't like it on any other color. Again it is individual liking i can say. Interior: Step in and feel a wow factor. Amazing dash board, floating touch screen, chrome is used minimal yet sufficient. It is best build quality. You have plenty of spaces to fill in your bottles, food stuff, keep your mobile. Steering is also quite funky and you get on steering functionality to control your music. Driver seat is quite comfortable, cushioning is good, you can adjust it as per your height and comfortable. Get into second row, you wont get a commanding sitting position like in driver seat but you get a good thigh support, leg space, and head space is quite good looking at the height of Nexon. Three people can easily squeeze in at second row and go for a long drive. And you get big boot space of 350 litres for your long trips. Yupee!! A small drawback in dashboard was the gaps i found near central console. But i could neglect them. Driving Experience: I was clear that i wanted a manual gearbox and Nexon had 3 modes of driving - eco, city and sport. 1.2 litre, 3 cylinder engine revotron engine produces 108bhp looks good only on paper. Engine is not punchy, you do feel engine more lively on sports mode but still could not convince me. But on a positive note, i was very impressed with the ride quality. It could easily swallow the big pot holes, humps or bumps. I couldn't feel any of them inside - be it in first row or second row. Close the doors, and you are completely isolated from outside noise. Engine noise is audible at high revs but 8 speaker harman system will impress you so much that you forget engine noise. What i liked: 1. Funky looks, build quality 2. Dash board, music system, big boot space 3. Ride quality 4. Safety (I think this should be my first point) What i didn't like: 1. Under powered petrol engine. (I could get only one) Conclusion: But it for safety and ride quality. If engine power is something you are looking for then look for other petrol cars.
