Evalia XE 2012-2014 Review
Finally, it the D-Day for Nissan India as it has brought its most awaited and stylish MPV into the Indian car market, Nissan Evalia. Nissan has rolled out the MPV in four variants. The Nissan Evalia XE is the base variant of the car and has been provided with all important features. There are many things that would lure you towards this variant. The first thing is the price. Nissan India has kept the price of Nissan Evalia XE very economical and competitive. The next thing that is becoming the main highlight here is the sliding rear doors that provide very easy access to the third row. The looks of the car are also impressive. The front is very simple and elegant, while the rear end of the car has got the neat and chic appearance. The interiors are sophisticated and coupled with numerous comfort features like air cooling system, power steering, the rear rows are foldable and more. The engine department of the car is strong and robust. Under the hood, the 1.5litre of DCi K9K diesel engine is capable enough to give out high power and torque and also manage to deliver a very decent mileage.
Exteriors
The exteriors of 2012 Nissan Evalia XE are pretty and elegant. This MPV has been designed keeping in mind all the needs and requirements of the passengers. The class leading Evalia is capable of adjusting seven adults with utmost ease. The Nissan Evalia XE variant comes with a bold and dynamic front end, which has been enhanced by the sweptback styled headlamps. The front bumper is accompanied by air intake section and overall body styling is quite perky. The side profile of the car is no less and has sliding doors for the rear seat, which are very alluring. Finally the rear end of Nissan Evalia XE is flat and very even. The tail lamps are properly done. With 4400mm of length, the MPV has a width of 1690mm and height of 1880mm. with such great dimensions , a lot of spacious and roomy interiors comes in automatically.
Interiors
The interiors of Nissan Evalia XE are very elegant and sophisticated. The car comes with conventional and diverse interiors and way different from other MPVs that are available in the market. The sliding door plus massive tail gate opening surely adds on more charm here. The roomy cabin certainly has a lot of space for the passengers as well as for the luggage. This seven-seater MPV gives you sufficient amount of elbow, shoulder, legroom and headroom in all three rows. The spaciousness is the major highlight of Evalia that would make the MPV a runaway success. As compared to other MPVs, like Mahindra Xylo or Toyota Innova, Nissan Evalia XE has worked very hard on the cabin and made them very roomy and airy.
Comfort Features
The comfort level of new Nissan Evalia XE has been also taken higher and XE being the base variant, the MPV has still been endowed with numerous comfort features. The air conditioning system is very powerful and takes no time to cool down all three rows. The heater here is also efficient and effective. The second and third row seats have folding facility, which would create huge space for luggage and other stuff. The mobile and laptop charging points, reading lamps, cup holders are other convenient features. The power steering is present for the smooth and comfortable driver. However, the power windows are absent here. Lack of CD player and electrically controllable ORVMs are also major minus points in the comfort section of Nissan Evalia XE.
Engine and Performance
The Nissan Evalia XE is a quite a high performing MPV. The car has not only got the style and comfort, but also comes with powerful and sturdy engine department. Under the bonnet, you will find 1.5 litre of DCi four cylinder common rail direct injection K9K diesel engine that would comfortably churn out maximum power of 105PS at the rate of 4000rpm along with producing high torque of 240NM at the rate of 1750 to 2000rpm. The five speed manual transmission that has been coupled with the engine is very impressive and helps the car to perform brilliantly on-road. What is furthermore interesting is the mileage delivered by the MPV. The car delivers an awesome fuel economy of 14kmpl on the city roads and 19.3kmpl of mileage on the highways. Even the acceleration and pickup of Nissan Evalia XE is top class. When accelerated, the car catches up a top speed of 130-150kmph and takes up 16 to 18 seconds going from 0 to 100kmph speed mark .
Braking and handling
The braking and handling of Nissan Evalia XE is decent. There is nothing exclusive in this department, as XE is the base variant of Evalia, therefore, the car variant misses out on many high class features like ABS, EBD, or brake assist. But the basic brake system here is very responsive. The disc brakes on the front with the drum brakes for the rear make an excellent combination that makes sure that driver gets complete control of the vehicle in case of accident or collision. The handling of the car is enhanced with the presence of proper suspension system and the power steering wheel amplified the overall handling of the car.
Safety features
The safety department of Nissan Evalia XE is not up to the mark. But as it is the base variant, the car manages to get some safety features. The body of the MPV is strong and has the power and capacity to absorb the force and pressure when in the situation of collision. talking about things like airbags, anti lock braking system, electronic brake force distribution system and brake assist, all these features remain missing from this variant. Therefore, not much can be expected from Nissan Evalia XE on the basis of safety features.
Pros
Very spacious and roomy interiors, impressive engine with high class mileage and rear sliding doors.
Cons
Lack of many safety and comfort features.
