Alto 2000-2012 Green LX BSIV Review
Maruti Suzuki India Ltd has been the forerunner of the Indian car market for more than two decades. This company is one of the largest subsidiaries of Suzuki Motor Corporation. This company has crossed sales of over 10 million vehicles since its provenance. Maruti is also the first company in India which promulgated CNG fitted vehicles. One of the cars from the stable of Maruti Suzuki is Alto. This hatchback segment has been built on the same platform on which 800 was built. The major traits of this car which attracts a general public at large are its low price and fuel economy. Apart from that, its low turning radius makes it easy to drive this car in heavy traffic. This company has recently added some feathers to its cap by introducing three CNG variants of Maruti Alto namely Maruti Alto Green STD BS IV, Maruti Alto Green LX BS IV and Maruti Alto Green LXI BS IV which would help in contributing to our ecosystem. This CNG technology comes equipped with iGPI (intelligent gas port injection) technology which ensures that proper amount of gas is injected so that overall performance of the car is maintained. Maruti Alto Green LX is believed to be the heartbeat for the middle class people who can't afford to buy an expensive one. It seems that the makers of this car have the control of the pulse of the consumers because they offer almost everything that a common Indian man would like to have in their car at the cheapest price. Even the maintenance cost of this car is much low as compared to the other cars in this segment. The fuel efficiency of Maruti Alto Green LX is excellent as it offers an average of around 18kmpl. The makers of this car claim this newly introduced CNG kit to be more eco-friendly, safe and reliable. The car comes with an engine of 796cc which delivers maximum power of 38bhp at 6200Rpm and top torque of 62Nm at 3000rpm .
Mileage
An extraordinary mileage of around 18kmpl is offered by Maruti Alto Green LX which is unmatchable in this segment of cars. An extraordinary care has been taken to increase the life of the engine, as all the CNG pipes and other joints are made up of stainless steel. The car also comes equipped with a proper venting system so that if there is any accidental leakage, then this system can foresee it. One of the key features of this car is that it comes with an i-GPI (intelligent gas port injection) technology which helps in delivering proper amount of gas to the engine so that overall performance of the car can be ensured. This car carries with it dual onboard computers which ascertains better control. It offers a mileage of 15.2kmpl in the city and 20.2kmpl on highways .
Engine
Maruti Alto Green LX comes with 796cc engine displacement which delivers a maximum power of 38.6bhp@6200rpm and torque of 62Nm@3000rpm. Such a high torque at a low rpm ensures that there is a better pick up. It is agreed that the power delivered by this car is not what is generally required for a higher acceleration but it is not bad either. There are 4 valves per cylinder and there are 3 cylinders which makes it a total count of 12 valves. Large amount of valves make sure that the fuel is burnt efficiently. The car comes with a 5 speed manual gearbox that helps the engine in delivering good performance even at a higher speed or if the road is not good.
Acceleration and pick up
Maruti Alto, which has been regarded as one of the best in fuel efficiency gives an average of 19.73kmpl and accelerates from 0-100km in 17.7 seconds and car can reach a saturation level of 137kmph.
Exterior

By looking at the car for the first time one can easily make out that no such stylish creativity has been done, but it is the car's simple though elegant design that makes it unique and extraordinary. The voguish looking bumper and front grill which is packed in between the two headlights add beauty to this car. The gleaming illumination of the speedometer looks stunning when viewed from outside. Sparkling tail lamps is another magnificent feature to add on. The ground clearance of 160mm is pretty good as compared to the other cars of this segment. By looking at the car from outside, one thing can be definitely stated that one who has knowledge of cars will surely be attracted towards its inner beauty and simplicity.
Interiors
The car might be simple from outside but when viewed from inside, the car turns out to be much more different and stylish. High quality fabric has been used to enhance the beauty of this car and to make the passengers much more comfortable. This fabric upholstery matches very well with the interiors of the car which gives it a very classic look . Gone were the days when odometer was used to measure the distances in cars. Now the time has arrived for digital trip meters which comes installed with this car and the major change that has been brought about by, is that it can be reset at any point of time and distances can be calculated whenever required. Sufficient leg space is given to the passengers so that a comfortable journey can be made.
