Santro Xing Celebration Edition Review
Hyundai, the South Korean automobile manufacturer has silently introduced the 'Celebration Edition' of its flagship hatchback Hyundai Santro Xing . The company has introduced this latest Celebration Edition to mark the 15th anniversary of the company in the Indian automobile market. The new edition carries six new exciting features that will surely excite people. The company has added some new features to the already existing Hyundai Santro GL Plus trim of its model lineup. The engine is the same which is presently powering the existing variants of Santro Xing. The company hasn't made any changes to the mechanics of this hatchback. The new features offered with the new edition include body graphics, chrome accents at its rear and so on. Apart from this, the company has also bestowed this celebration edition trim with a rear parking sensor that has an LED display inside, a sophisticated Blaupunkt audio system with speakers, a rear sun blind and a new set of floor mats. These new features make this hatchback more appealing and exciting to drive.
Exteriors
The designers of the company have given a lot of importance to the exteriors of this affordable celebration edition hatchback to make it look more attractive. The Santro Xing Celebration Edition comes with a new body graphics and a bit of chrome elements on its rear that makes it prettier than before. Its frontage has been incorporated with body colored radiator grille that also hosts the chrome plated company logo. The radiator grille is surrounded by a large and radiant clear lens headlight clusters, equipped with powerful halogen lamps and side indicators. The front bumper is offered in body color, and it has been incorporated with an air dam that adds to the beauty of this affordable hatch. The side profile of this hatch has now been improved with new body graphics, adding a bit of sporty elements. While the door handles and ORVMs have been garnished in body color. The wheel arches have been finely designed and are fitted with a 13 inch steel rims. When it comes to the rear end, it has a large windshield along with a stylish tail lamp cluster that comes with bright and clear lens lamps. There is a chrome strip fitted just above the license plate as a Celebration Edition feature.
Interiors
The interior cabin section of the hatch has also received the Celebration Edition features. Most of the interior design is quite the same as its previous version, and it can host the seating for at least 5 passengers. The interior cabin section comes in two tone beige and brown color scheme that makes its look plush and elegant. It received new features including manual rear curtains, new floor mats, and an advanced music system that add to the excitement of owners. There are several other features included in this celebration edition trim like rear parcel tray, rear speaker grille, an ash tray, front map lamp, modish silver finish on the central console, silver garnished AC vents, cup holders, gear shift knob with chrome ascents and few other. The interior cabin section is truly plush and spacious enough for a comfortable driving experience. Now as this hatchback has been incorporate with an advanced Blaupankt music system, the quality of entertainment will be at its best.
Engine and Performance
When it comes to the engine and performance, there is no update given to its technicalities and it remains entirely similar to the existing GL Plus trim. The Santro Xing Celebration Edition comes fitted with a reliable 1.1-litre petrol plant that has SOHC valve configuration. The petrol mill has been equipped with 4-cylinders that can displace about 1086cc of cubic capacity. This peppy engine can unleash a maximum power of about 62.01bhp at 5500rpm while yielding a peak torque of about 96.1Nm at 3000rpm. The engine has been mated to a five speed manual transmission gearbox. The company has designed this engine with active intelligence technology, which is the main reason for its enhanced power and performance. The company claims that the hatchback can reach a top speed of about 141kmph, while reaching 100kmph mark in just about 16.2 seconds, which is quite remarkable. This powerful engine meets the Bharat Stage IV emission norms.
Braking and Handling
Hyundai Motors has equipped this Hyundai Santro Xing Celebration Edition with a proficient braking along with a robust suspension mechanism. The front wheels of the hatch are given ventilated discs, while the rear wheels have been fitted with a self adjusting drums brakes that performs exceptionally under different driving conditions. When it comes to the suspension system of the hatch, the front axle has been equipped with McPherson strut suspension system and a coil spring type of mechanism. The rear axle of the hatch has been fitted with a torsion beam axle along with a coil spring type of mechanism, which balances this hatchback and keep it agile and steady.
Comfort Features
The new Santro Xing Celebration Edition gets all the comfort features that are offered with the GL Plus variant in its model lineup. This variant has been offered with a list of features including an air conditioner, heater, low fuel warning lamp, power steering system, power windows, intermittent front wiper and washer, rear seat head restraints , rear parcel tray, cup holders, door trims with fabric inserts, chrome finish gearshift knob, silver finish central console AC vents and several other features. Now this variant also got an advanced Blaupankt audio system that enhances the quality of entertainment inside the cabin.
Safety Features
Despite being the low cost version, Hyundai Santro Xing Celebration Edition has been equipped with significant safety features. The list includes child safety rear door locks, dual side impact beam, energy absorbing steering column, key less entry, central locking system , self locking door, engine immobilizer system and more.
